Version history

From the WaveFern Wiki

The game is on v49.0.2. This list is read live from the game, so it is always current.

VersionWhat changed
v49.0.2No more hard cutoff for who can DM you: any artist can, but the bigger they are than you, the faster the chance drops. Someone about your size messages often, a star 10x bigger is rare, and a star like Doja Cat or Shawn Mendes (about 560M) messaging a 20M player is around 1 in 80,000 a day. At a handful of listeners it is so unlikely it will probably never happen.
v49.0.1Big stars no longer DM you while you are still far smaller than them. An artist only messages you once you have at least a tenth of their monthly listeners, so someone like Doja Cat or Shawn Mendes waits until you are at about 56M, not 20M. You can still message anyone yourself.
v49.0.0If you played at the old wavefern.github.io/WaveFern address, a card now tells you the game has moved to wavefern.com and that your saves came with you. The old address and anything under wavefern.github.io send you to wavefern.com.
v48.9.0A new soundtrack track: Rocket. It plays in the background with the rest of the soundtrack, can be turned on or off and previewed in Settings, and is in the soundtrack player on the wiki Credits page. Your track on and off choices are kept.
v48.8.0WaveFern has its own web address: play at wavefern.com and read the wiki at wavefern.com/wiki. The old wavefern.github.io/WaveFern link still works and sends you to the new one, and the first time you open wavefern.com your careers, backups and settings from the old address come with you.
v48.7.0Pop-ups no longer pile on top of each other. Messages, release and goal cards, flight cards and tutorial cards all line up in one neat column at the top of the screen, below any bar that is showing there, with at most 5 at once. When the same pop-up comes up again while it is still on screen it shows a counter instead (x2, x3, x4...) and stays up a little longer. Floating reward pops step out of each other's way too.
v48.6.0New sound effects. Clicks, pickups, purchases, wins, errors, doors and footsteps are now built from layers (a soft tap, a short wooden or glassy tone, a little room) and change slightly every time, so they feel less like beeps and do not get tiring. They sit a little quieter under the music. Footsteps alternate left and right and sound harder on indoor floors, the tutorial typing is a soft tick, night crickets sound more natural, and the music minigames have proper drum, bass, guitar, keys and pad sounds. A button that makes its own sound no longer plays a click on top.
v48.5.0The wiki has screenshots: 29 pictures taken from the game, beside the text on the pages they belong to, with a gallery where a page has more than one. Click one to see it full size.
v48.4.0You can play the whole soundtrack from the wiki Credits page. A player bar at the bottom has play and pause, previous and next, 10 second skips, a seek bar and volume, and keeps playing while you read other pages.
v48.3.0The wiki Contact form now filters messages before sending: no swearing, slurs, threats, links, shouting or random letters, and one message every couple of minutes, up to 5 a day.
v48.2.1The wiki soundtrack credit has new wording.
v48.2.0The tutorial now teaches as you play. A new career only covers the basics (walk, pick a name, record, release), then Big Vee pops up the first time you reach something new: your first DM, the street, a car, a shop, being tired, the festival, a booked flight and the airport, a tour city and more. When a tip is about a place, a glowing guide line runs along the ground from you to it. The progress panel is gone, and tips can be turned on or off from the pause menu.
v48.1.1The wiki Contact form is now open.
v48.1.0The wiki has a Contact page with a form for sending a message to the people who make the game.
v48.0.0The wiki has a new Frequently asked questions page with quick answers to the questions players ask most.
v47.9.1The wiki now links to tumfy.net in the credits and on the page about how songs are made.
v47.9.0The wiki credits the soundtrack (Rowan Burton, made in FL Studio with Surge XT, Arminator 2 and tumfy's free kits) and has a new page on how the songs you make are turned into music. Haggling styles and real artists are no longer listed in the wiki.
v47.8.0Big Vee and the tutorial now say you pass out at 06:00, which is when it really happens. The wiki gets Tips on its main pages, a Credits page, a Secrets page, and a note on what Label HQ will be for.
v47.7.1Making a song on a controller: the Beat, Lyrics and Mix steps now say which pad buttons to press, each lyric answer shows its button, and the D-pad can pick answers too. The beat hint is no longer replaced by the walking controls.
v47.7.0The wiki has a plainer, encyclopedia-style look: a sidebar of links, Article, Source and History tabs, one green accent colour, plain boxes and bordered tables. Emoji icons, rainbow colours, pop-up rewards and scroll animations are gone. Links to pages you have read turn a darker green.
v47.6.1Fixed the controls hint flickering between keyboard and controller: the controller text is now put in before the screen draws, and the game only switches back to keyboard prompts when you press a key or clearly move the mouse.
v47.6.0The wiki now reads like an encyclopedia: Read, Source and History tabs on every page, a numbered Contents box, See also and References, page previews when you point at a link, and a Main Page with a featured article, In the news and Did you know. It is more fun too: pages you read are ticked off with a rank and a progress bar, new pages and rank-ups pop up with pixel confetti, sections slide in as you scroll, and a random page button.
v47.5.1Controller prompts match your controller: PlayStation pads show ✕ ○ □ △, L1/R1, L2/R2, Share and Options; Switch Pro pads show their own letters, ZL/ZR and + / −; Xbox and other pads keep A B X Y.
v47.5.0Controller support. Left stick walks (LT runs), A interacts, X opens storage, Y the phone, View the map, Start pauses. Driving uses RT and LT. In recording and festival games A is the hit button and X Y B RB are 1 to 4. In menus, the computer and the phone the D-pad moves a green ring between buttons, A presses, B goes back and the right stick scrolls. Placing furniture gives you a cursor on the left stick. Prompts switch to pad buttons while you use one.
v47.4.0A better-looking wiki: each category has its own colour, pages open with an icon and a one-line summary, an On this page box jumps to each section, Previous and Next links step through a category, and the home page has category cards, popular pages and the latest update.
v47.3.1The wiki's scroll bars now match the game: square, black-edged and pixel-shaded, turning green while you drag them.
v47.3.0The WaveFern Wiki: a Wiki button on the main menu opens a full guide to every mechanic (genre focus, stream formulas, collab fees, labels, festivals, the World Tour, band rooms and more), with search, categories and tables copied from the game itself
v47.2.0You can place furniture upstairs now: press F on the upstairs floor and the camera frames that floor, and furniture fits against its walls (not in the stairwell). Paint has its own Paint category on Amazoom, so tins are easy to find; one tin paints one room, upstairs or down.
v47.1.0Quitting now remembers where you are on the map: load your career and you are back on the same spot (inside buildings and tour cities still start at their usual spot). Also moved one glitched player into the Main Stage crowd.
v47.0.0A ninth genre: Latin, with its own beats (reggaeton, Latin trap, bachata, salsa, cumbia and Latin pop). Every artist's music now plays in its own genre: Latin, jazz, funk, afro and grime artists no longer fall back to a random genre's beat. New genre focus: fans reward a steady sound. Each new song looks at your last five releases: staying in the same genre or family earns up to +40% streams, and hopping around (say rap, then country, then pop, then lo-fi) costs up to 25%. Families are Hip-Hop, Rap, R&B and Latin; Pop and Country; Lo-fi and Electronic; and Rock. The Make a song screen shows each genre's focus before you pick. Songs you already released keep their streams. Saves still load.
v46.9.0A new Make a song screen in the game's menu style: genres are big pixel buttons in a grid with HOT and COLD tags for trending and cold genres, and the diss track, rival, 808 and hi hat options now sit in an Extras dropdown that shows what you have picked even while it is closed. Saves still load.
v46.8.0Buttons in the game's own menus (making a song, settings, wardrobe, shops and pop-ups) now match the main menu: black edges, a hard pixel shadow, a smooth eased grow when you point at them and a press-in when clicked. The in-game computer and phone screens and the rhythm-game pads keep their own look. Saves still load.
v46.7.5Menu buttons grow a little quicker on hover. Saves still load.
v46.7.4Fixed the menu button grow jumping straight to full size on devices with animations turned down in the system settings: the smooth ease now always plays (only the looping title bob and blinking marker stay off there). Saves still load.
v46.7.3Menu buttons now grow evenly from their centre when you point at them, easing in and out smoothly like a keyframe in a video editor, and shrink back the same way. Saves still load.
v46.7.2Menu buttons now smoothly expand towards the side your pointer came in from, and stay put while you move over them. Saves still load.
v46.7.1Menu buttons now grow towards your pointer: point at the right side of a button and it stretches out to the right, the left side and it stretches left, and it follows as you move. This replaces the colour fill. Saves still load.
v46.7.0Main menu, loading screen and pause menu redone in the game's own pixel look: the same black-bordered panels as the in-game boxes, blocky pixel shadows on the title, and menu buttons that fill with colour from wherever your pointer enters them, with a blinking ▶ marker. Single player now comes first, and Multiplayer opens straight into Your rooms, where you can also create or join a room. The pause menu shows the day. Saves still load.
v46.6.0Band rooms now work on networks that block direct connections, such as many school networks. If a direct link to the host cannot be made, the game switches on its own to a relay through Firebase (Google), and the band panel shows "relay". Relay players and direct players share the same room. The relay only sends what changed and only sends positions of bandmates in the same area, so it stays inside the free Firebase limits. Everything that arrives from other players is now cleaned before the game uses it. Join a room can also find rooms through the relay. Saves still load.
v46.5.0A more polished loading screen and main menu. The loading screen has a glowing logo, a bouncing equaliser, a progress bar with a percentage, a game tip, and messages like "Tuning the guitars…" and "Counting in the drummer…" that change every couple of seconds. The main menu has a darker vignette behind it, a glowing title, chunky buttons that lift when you point at them and press in when clicked, framed panels for the career and multiplayer screens, and the game version at the bottom. Saves still load.
v46.4.0Main menu: Multiplayer now opens its own screen, like Play does, with Your rooms, Create a room and Join a room. Your rooms lists your band careers (up to 2) so you can host or rejoin one, or delete one to make space for a new band. The minimap now always sits just under the top-left box and the band room panel moves below it, so the room code and band list never cover the map. Saves still load.
v46.3.0Main menu: Create a room and Join a room are now grouped under one Multiplayer button. Tap Multiplayer to show them, tap again to hide them. Saves still load.
v46.2.3Admin Active band rooms: rooms seen in the last hour are now listed even if the host has gone quiet, with how long ago they were last seen, so you can still try to join them. Saves still load.
v46.2.2Admin Active band rooms: rooms no longer disappear from the list when the host switches tabs or apps. Hosts now ping every 20 seconds and again when they come back, and the room is not removed when the page is hidden. Saves still load.
v46.2.1Band rooms: only the admin now spawns in with the best Gphone (every app unlocked); everyone else keeps their own Gphone again. Saves still load.
v46.2.0Band rooms: everyone now spawns in with the best Gphone (the newest model), whether hosting or joining. Saves still load.
v46.1.1Admin Active band rooms list: it now explains why it is empty (nothing registered, old entries hidden, or rules not published), ignores clock differences between you and the host, and a host whose room cannot register is told why. Saves still load.
v46.1.0Band rooms now need a Google sign-in. Signed in, the menu shows Continue as (your name) to jump back into your last band room with your band character, so closing the tab does not lose it. Each Google account can only be in a room once, and one browser can only have one tab in a room. Saves still load.
v46.0.1Fixed the admin big heads command: heads (with hair and hats) now turn off and reset cleanly instead of staying giant or floating after you switch it off. Saves still load.
v46.0.0Band rooms: when the admin uses the Gphone Admin fun commands, everyone in the room now sees the weather, disco lights, big heads, giant or tiny size and tiny or giant car on the admin's character. Only admins can send it, it is never saved and it clears when the admin turns it off or leaves. Saves still load.
v45.9.1Fixed the admin Active band rooms list showing nothing: every band room host now registers the room (no Google sign-in needed), and the room is removed when the host closes the page. Saves still load.
v45.9.0Band rooms: the host can now remove a member with the ✕ button next to their name on the band panel (with a confirmation). The removed player is told why and sent back to play alone, and cannot rejoin that room until the host closes it. Saves still load.
v45.8.0Admin Gphone app: admins get a new Admin app on the Gphone with silly reversible commands: crazy weather (rubber ducks, confetti, money, blizzard, meteors, mega storm), giant or tiny you, a tiny or giant car, moon jump, disco party, big heads, spin cycle, drunk camera, slow-mo and hyper speed. Nothing is saved. Saves still load.
v45.7.0Admin panel: a new Active band rooms list shows every band room that is open right now (band name and player count) with a Join button, so the admin can hop into any room without the code. Saves still load.
v45.6.5Fixed not being able to rename collab songs: the title box now shows just the song name and the (feat. NAME) tag is kept on automatically. Saves still load.
v45.6.4Band rooms now work between different networks (for example your wifi and a friend's wifi or mobile data): connections can fall back to a relay server when a direct link is blocked, and a slow connection now tells you it is still trying. Saves still load.
v45.6.3The page description now calls WaveFern a music career game for any kind of artist, not just rappers. Saves still load.
v45.6.2Improved the page description so search engines and AI assistants can find WaveFern as a browser rapping and music career game with world tours and band rooms. Saves still load.
v45.6.1Tightened the cloud (Firebase) rules: saves can never be deleted or listed by players, every save and gift field is checked for type and size, timestamps must be sane, and everything not listed is denied. Saves still load.
v45.6.0Band rooms: collabs are now done by the whole band. Artist chats are shared, so every member sees the same messages, deals and agreed collabs. When one member starts recording with an artist, the band panel shows how many members are ready, and the session only starts once everyone is with that artist and ready. The finished collab is one linked band song with the same name for everyone (+3 quality per extra member), and releasing it releases it for the whole band.
v45.5.2Band rooms: the band now goes to sleep together. Everyone online has to be at a bed and press it (the band panel shows who is in bed), and members who are abroad in another country are not needed. Gear shop upgrades now count for the whole band: when one member upgrades, everyone's studio gets it. Saves still load.
v45.5.1Band rooms: when one member runs out of goes or leaves a band take, the take is now scrapped for the whole band instead of the others carrying on, and any finished part of it is thrown away too. Saves still load.
v45.5.0Band rooms: press B (or Emotes on the band panel) for an emote wheel with 8 animated emotes: wave, dance, clap, cheer, laugh, air guitar, spin and love. Your bandmates see them, with an emoji over your head. The whole band now shares one Spotifly artist account: when anyone picks the artist name it becomes everyone's, and the drawn profile picture shows every member. Whoever starts a recording names the song, everyone records it together, and when one member releases it, it comes out for the whole band at once. You now type your own name when you create or join a room. Fixed the bunk beds not counting as beds, so leaving Storage no longer asks you to place a bed, and the wardrobe no longer stands inside a bunk bed in band houses. Saves still load.
v45.4.0Band rooms: the main menu now has Create a room, Join a room and Single player. Create a room gives you a 5 letter code, and up to 4 friends can join with it from their own browser to live in the same house as a band (the bedroom has 2 bunk beds). Everyone picks one instrument when they first join (vocals, guitar, bass, drums or keys) and keeps it, and you all start in the studio with every member's instrument at its lowest level. You can see each other walk around. To record, every member who is online has to be in the studio and ready, and the band panel shows how many are ready, like 1/3 members ready, and where the others are. Each instrument has its own recording step instead of rhyming (drum notes, guitar riffs, bass groove, piano melody), and a band take adds quality. Festival sets also need the whole band at the stage, and the crowd games match your instrument. The host's clock is the band's clock, so the night ends when the host sleeps. Band careers save on your device, separate from your single player careers and cloud save. Saves still load.
v45.3.0Shops in the tour cities have their own menus: souvenir shops open a gift counter under a striped awning with price tags and spinning previews, restaurants hand you a printed paper menu and cafés show a chalkboard. Souvenirs (postcard on an easel, snow globe, T-shirt on a stand, fridge magnet board) are now real models in each city's colours that go to your Storage at home to place like furniture, and souvenirs you bought before are added to your Storage. Shop doors no longer bounce you in and out when you hold or double-press E: you step clear of the door after going through it. Saves still load.
v45.2.0Shops in the tour cities now have customers standing about: queueing at the café and restaurant counters, browsing the store, records, books, boutique, souvenir and pharmacy aisles. They block the way like furniture so you cannot walk through them. Saves still load.
v45.1.2Changed buildings back to fading out smoothly when they block your view, instead of the round dotted hole. They still never vanish or pop as you walk up to them. Saves still load.
v45.1.1Fixed tour cities being nearly pitch black at night: buildings, streets and the ground now have a soft blue glow so you can read the city while the windows and signs still shine. Saves still load.
v45.1.0Tour city buildings now have more varied shapes: round corner turrets with cone roofs, bay windows, stepped terraces on top, stepped gables, roof gardens with pergolas, chimneys, flagpoles, proper stairwell huts and fuller skyscraper roof plant instead of plain grey blocks. Saves still load.
v45.0.0The land around every tour city is no longer an empty plane: there are fields, trees, rocks or desert dunes, hills, farmhouses and a ring of far-off buildings or skyscrapers, and the stadium plaza now has paved patterns, tree rows, lamps and benches. Saves still load.
v44.9.0Buildings no longer turn into murky ghosts when they block your view. Instead a clean round see-through hole opens in whatever is in front of you, centred on your character, so you can always see yourself and nothing ever vanishes as you walk up to it. Saves still load.
v44.8.0Every tour city is much more detailed. Buildings now have floor ledges, corner pillars, cornices, balconies with railings and plants, air conditioners, drainpipes, water tanks, aerials and solar panels, glass towers have fins, and shopfronts have window frames, door frames, steps, plant pots and warm lights. Streets get corner signs, benches, hydrants, bins, bus shelters, food carts and flower baskets on the lamps. Inside, every shop, café, restaurant, record shop and lobby has skirting, wall lights, windows, wall art, a clock and more furniture, there are three new shop types (bookshop, boutique and pharmacy), and the hotel lobby is dressed too. The see-through fade for buildings is back and better: a building in the way turns into a faint ghost only when it really blocks you, and it never vanishes as you walk up to it. Saves still load.
v44.7.2Fixed buying a Gphone 9 or newer still saying you had no phone: the purchase now counts, and saves where you already bought one open the phone with G as normal. Saves still load.
v44.7.1Fixed the game pausing or glitching on phones after sending a text on the computer: the on-screen keyboard opening or closing no longer pauses the game. Saves still load.
v44.7.0On a phone held upright, Messages on the computer now looks like the Gphone one: the chat list fills the screen, tapping a chat opens it full screen with a back button, and the message bar sits at the bottom. Saves still load.
v44.6.0Storage placing is completely redone and easy on phones. Furniture now snaps flush against walls and other furniture and turns its back to the wall by itself. Pick an item and drag it in the room, then tap Place, or tap a placed item to Move, turn or store it. Big buttons for Place, turn left and right, Store and Undo, and a settings button for snapping, turning to the wall and grid size. Saves still load.
v44.5.0On a phone held upright, Spotifly on the computer now looks like the Gphone one: dark, with the pages as tabs along the top. A now-playing bar with a pause and play button sits at the bottom of the computer (upright phone screens) and the Gphone while a song plays. The touch Phone button hides until you own a phone, and pinching or double-tapping no longer zooms the page on phones. Saves still load.
v44.4.1Closing the browser window on the computer now stops any music that was playing from a website in it. Saves still load.
v44.4.0You no longer start with a phone: new players need to buy a Gphone 8 ($100) on Amazoom or gphone.wf on the computer before the G key (or the Phone button) works. Saves that already have a phone keep it. On phones and tablets the computer's app icons now look like the Gphone app grid, with rounded tiles. Saves still load.
v44.3.0The computer now fits phones and tablets: on touch screens it opens full screen with big, easy-to-tap app icons that fill the screen, app windows that fill the whole display, and larger taskbar and window buttons. Apps now open with a single click or tap, no double click needed, on every device. Saves still load.
v44.2.0New Full screen button on phones and tablets, next to Run: tap it to hide the browser bars and play full screen, tap again to exit. It only shows where the browser allows full screen (iPhones do not, so there use Share > Add to Home Screen to play full screen). Saves still load.
v44.1.1Fixed the phone controls crowding the screen in landscape: the touch buttons now sit in a row above Use, the minimap is hidden on short phone screens (use the Map button), and the tutorial boxes and prompts move clear of the joystick and buttons. Saves still load.
v44.1.0The game now plays on phones and tablets. A joystick in the bottom-left corner moves your artist: drag it in any direction to walk, or to drive when you are in a car. Touch buttons in the bottom-right stand in for the keys: Use (E), Run (tap to switch sprinting on or off), Map, Phone, Storage and Pause. Prompts and tutorial boxes move so they do not sit under the controls, and the layout fits portrait and landscape screens. Keyboard and mouse controls on a computer are unchanged. Saves still load.
v44.0.0Buildings in every tour city now vanish cleanly when they are between you and the camera, so nothing blocks your view any more. Your hotel room is now a full suite with a bathroom and bath, a big bed under city art, a desk by the window, a sofa, TV, rug, lamps and your suitcase. City pavements have paving slabs and the roads have manhole covers. In test mode a Teleport app on your phone jumps you straight to any tour city or back home. Saves still load.
v43.9.0Two new artists to collab with: Max You, a ginger-haired pop artist dressed all in white, and Henry Dodds, an indie singer. Their fees scale with their fame like everyone else, and they can DM you too. Saves still load.
v43.8.0Tour cities look and play better: fewer, more spread-out buildings with small squares, gardens and car parks between them, billboards and shop signs that actually show their pictures and glow with neon frames at night, and buildings that cleanly cut away to the ground floor when they block your view instead of going glitchy see-through. Every city now has its famous landmark (the Eiffel Tower in Paris, Big Ben in London, Tokyo Tower and more) with a selfie spot, a hotel with a lobby and your own room to sleep in, and walk-in restaurants, cafés, shops, record shops and office lobbies. Cars are solid and wait at crossings, street lamps and trees no longer stand in the way of people walking, and park fountains are the same as back home. Saves still load.
v43.7.1Fixed getting stuck at airport security after missing a flight: walking back out through a security lane now works, so you can leave the terminal or rebook. If you are abroad with no flight out and not enough money for one, Swiftwing now gives you a free seat on the next flight home. Saves still load.
v43.7.0World Tour destinations are now real places to explore: each city or town has its own streets, shops, signs in the local language, traffic, a hotel and an airport, and you arrive with an aerial cutscene over the skyline. Every stop has a huge stadium and a smaller club: plan your setlist and production in the dressing room, rehearse, then walk out for a long, detailed show with crowd moments, talking to the crowd, an intermission, an encore and fireworks. Saves still load.
v43.6.2Fixed a plane and a baggage cart from the airport standing in the middle of town, near your house, until you first went to the airport. Saves still load.
v43.6.1Flights to tour cities now hand over to the city itself when it is ready: you step out at that city's airport, and its airport doors take you into the terminal to fly home or onward. Saves still load.
v43.6.0Fernfield International airport is open on the far left of the map: drive or take a taxi down Fern Road to its car parks and forecourt. Walk into the terminal to find check-in desks, a ticket desk, an info desk, security, cafés, shops, departure boards and six gates with planes parked outside, while other planes take off and land. The new Swiftwing Flights app on your laptop and phone shows a world map: pick a place, see flight times, prices, gates and status for the next 3 days, and buy a ticket with your money. My trips shows your boarding passes with a countdown, check-in and cancel (70% back if you cancel more than 2 hours before take-off). Check in from 24 hours before, go through security and get to your gate before it closes 10 minutes before take-off, or the ticket is lost. Board at the gate, walk down the aisle to your seat and sit to take off. Flights use the game clock, and a long flight can carry you into the next morning. Saves still load.
v43.5.0New World Tour app for your laptop. It appears in the App Barn at Fame Level 275 and costs $250,000 once, then stays yours. Inside is a world map you can drag and zoom (mouse wheel, pinch or the + and - buttons): continents light up when you hover them, click one to zoom in and see its countries with their names, and click a glowing country to see its stops. Big cities like Tokyo, New York, London and Paris have their own shows, and some countries have one country show in a smaller town. Each stop shows the stadium, crowd size, ticket price, fame needed, a smaller show you can play earlier, the flight time and fare, and the local time. Plan up to 5 stops: several cities in one country for a country tour, or one city per country for a continent or world tour. Give each show a setlist of up to 12 songs or a whole album. The app plans the tour and shows your next steps; you still book the flight, get to the airport and board on time. Saves still load.
v43.4.0Groundwork for travel: the game now remembers where in the world you are and keeps any plane tickets you buy, ready for the airport and world tours. Nothing else changes yet. Saves still load.
v43.3.0Fame levels now go all the way up to Level 350. The first 40 levels need a little more listeners than before, and every level after that is a step towards the top: Level 275 is around 60 million monthly listeners and Level 350, the max, is 1.3 billion. The Gramophone Awards and the bigger festival stages still open at the same listener counts as before (they now show their new level numbers). Test mode starts you at Level 350. Saves still load.
v43.2.0The art gallery keeper is now Sushil: very tall and very slim, with glasses and black side-swept hair. He runs the street gallery and the Skyline Tower gallery. All 19 classic hairstyles are rebuilt in 3D and look more like real hair: rounded heads of hair with layers, strands, highlights and shadows, spiky tips, curly afros and puffs made of curls, twists, braids and cornrows, and real dreads that hang in thick twisted locs over the shoulders and down the back. Hats still sit over the hair. Saves still load.
v43.1.0Goals are gone, replaced by Quests: a new app preinstalled on your computer with its own look and Daily and Weekly tabs. Every day brings 3 daily quests (record, release, post, message, walk and more); finish all 3 for $30 at the start, more as your fame grows. Every week brings 3 tougher weekly quests (beat last week's streams, release several songs, hit a quality bar and more) worth $300 at the start. Quests stay the same if you reload, and new ones come after you sleep. Saves still load.
v43.0.1Each song now keeps one bass sound from start to finish. The bass, 808 and other sampled instruments no longer change sound from note to note or part way through a song: each song picks one and sticks with it. Saves still load.
v43.0.0New recorded 808s and hi hats. When you record a song you can now pick its 808 (Amen, Cactus, Camp, Daffy, Dime, Episode, Flo, Glaze, Grief, Notebook, Owl, Robin, Shiver, Shoe, Snowhurt, Thin, Vessel) and hi hat (Aisle, Business, Crusade, Fin, Guard, Meta, Rooftop, Turkey, Utter); picking one plays it once. Auto lets the beat choose, Built-in keeps the old sound. The 808 follows the bass notes and slides, and the song keeps its sounds after release. Older songs sound the same as before. Saves still load.
v42.9.0Pedestrians now notice you on the pavement, slow down and step to one side to walk around you instead of bumping into you, then drift back to their line. Traffic cars turn at junctions like real cars: they brake before the corner, follow a smooth curve (a tight one turning across the near side, a wider one across the far side, and a half circle for U-turns at dead ends) and speed back up after it. Cars still give way to each other at junctions, and their hitboxes turn with them. Saves still load.
v42.8.0Pets and bodyguards now find their own way to you: they walk around walls, buildings and furniture instead of through them, and if there is no way through they appear next to you. They face the way they are walking. While you perform on stage at a festival your pets and bodyguards stay out of sight, and they are back by your side when you come off. Saves still load.
v42.7.5Gift checks can no longer throw an error if the Google sign-in part of the game fails to load. Saves still load.
v42.7.4Fixed the Google account update stopping the game from starting (a name clash broke the sign-in file, so the main menu never appeared). Saves still load.
v42.7.3Fixed Aurora Residences looking washed out and almost pure white inside: its floors, walls and furniture were near-white under full-strength room lights. Its colours are now softer and its lights dimmer, so every floor shows its tiles, panels and furniture like the other towers. Saves still load.
v42.7.2Fixed switching Google account replacing your careers: each Google account now has its own careers on this device. Signing in shows that account's careers and its cloud save, signing out brings back the careers you play without an account, and nothing is overwritten. A brand new account can bring your current career with it as a copy. Before a cloud save loads over a career, or a career is saved over a different cloud save, the old one is kept under Recovered backups, which now holds up to 12. The admin Players list has a Copy save button. Saves still load.
v42.7.1Fixed the sprint and followers update failing to load, so the sprint animation, bodyguard animations and pets and bodyguards keeping up now actually work. Saves still load.
v42.7.0Making a song: each step (Beat, Lyrics and Mix) now starts with an animated 3, 2, 1, GO countdown. The Lyrics step adapts to you: get lines right and quick and the next ones come faster with longer rhymes and look-alike trap words, miss and they slow down and get easier, and your level carries over a little to your next song. When a song is finished the title box is no longer highlighted, so keys you are still pressing cannot overwrite it. Saves still load.
v42.6.0Sprinting now looks like sprinting: hold Shift and your artist takes quicker, longer strides, pumps their arms and leans forward. Bodyguards now walk, run and stand like you do, and sprint when they hurry. Pets and bodyguards always keep up: they run faster when you sprint, and if they ever fall far behind or get stuck they appear right next to you, including after doors, taxis and getting out of the car. Saves still load.
v42.5.0Every career plays differently: each save now decides which artists are keen on you, which are not, and about 1 in 7 artists who will never message you in that save (you can still message them). 16 more fictional artists join across every genre and size, from tiny pop acts to Hip-Hop megastars. Saves still load.
v42.4.0Admin accounts can start a chat with any artist in the game from New in Messages, whatever their size. Normal players are unchanged. Saves still load.
v42.3.0Nine new fictional rappers fill the gap between the up-and-coming artists and the real stars, from about 800,000 to 400 million monthly listeners (Kezzy Vane, Lil Brickz, Marcus Flint, Yung Halo, Cass Rivers, Jaylo Banks, King Oduya, Sable Knox and Rhyme Dalton). Mid-career players now get collab offers from artists near their own size. Saves still load.
v42.2.1Rowan is now a big rapper with about 15 million monthly listeners and his own look. He DMs you once you are well known, and his collab fee fits his size. Saves still load.
v42.2.0New rapper Rowan: a small up-and-coming hype rapper who can DM you for collabs early in your career. Saves still load.
v42.1.0On the dev account, the character creator shows a short look code with a Copy button, listing every look option, so new artists can be made to look like your designs. Saves still load.
v42.0.0The graphics preset is now a slider: Auto, Low, Medium, High and a new Best, which draws sharper pixels with everything turned up. Saves still load.
v41.9.1Prices artists say in Messages now have commas, like $600,000 instead of $600000, including in chats you already have. Saves still load.
v41.9.0Collab odds and fees now fit the bigger real artists: they reach out to you as if they were about 3 times their old size rather than 10 times, so stars are rarer than before but still possible once you are big, and they charge about 3 times more when you message them. What artists pay you is priced as before. Saves still load.
v41.8.0FPS counter: turn it on in Settings > Graphics to see frames per second at the top of the screen. It is off by default and remembered on this device. Saves still load.
v41.7.0Homes look and feel like real places. Your house now has one proper roof over the main house and the back extension, window frames, flower boxes, gutters and a chimney, and once you own the upstairs the outside shows a second storey with its own windows. Upstairs and the extension now match downstairs: same wall height, same low walls with a wood cap, and windows. Neighbourhood houses are real sizes, one or two storeys with doors and windows you could walk through. New careers start with every room painted in one soft, matching colour palette. Buy paint tins on Amazoom, then press E in any room at home to repaint it. Older careers keep their wall colours until you paint. Saves still load.
v41.6.0Big Vee's tutorial now starts straight after you make your character, with no pop-up to accept: his messages just begin, and a Skip tutorial button sits on his dialogue box. Loading a career you have played before never starts the tutorial or character creation again, and a tutorial you left halfway picks up where you stopped. Less explaining: the studio and mini game how-to text goes away after your first 3 songs, the festival rules fold into a How it works dropdown, and the map, bodyguard, robbery and sitting messages are shorter. Saves still load.
v41.5.0New Graphics tab in Settings for slower computers: pick Auto, Low, Medium or High, or set pixel size, a frame rate cap (60 or 30), crowds, weather effects and draw distance yourself. Auto starts on High and steps down if the game runs slowly. People and cars off the edge of the screen are no longer animated and drawn, so every setting runs a little faster. Saves still load.
v41.4.0The Gphone no longer pauses the game: the clock keeps running and you can walk around with your phone open (it still closes for sleep and cutscenes, and stays away in the car and on the computer). Goober Eats on the phone now has the same white look as on the computer, two dishes a row, with your stored food on top. Spotifly on the phone is now an artist page: your picture as a big header with your name over it, monthly listeners, Follow, shuffle and play, and Music, Release and Stats tabs; songs keep playing while the phone is open. Nothing on the phone scrolls sideways. Saves still load.
v41.3.0Over 20 more of the most-streamed real artists join the game (Bruno Mars, Rihanna, Taylor Swift, Lady Gaga, Bad Bunny, Coldplay and more), with their own looks, and can DM you for collabs once you are big enough. Every real artist now has 10 times the monthly listeners, so the top of the ladder is much further away; featuring with them still brings the same fan streams as before. Saves still load.
v41.2.0Every Gphone app now fits the phone screen: Messages shows your chat list full width, then the open chat with a back button, instead of two squashed columns; Gigs (FestivalApp) shows each stage with its time slots two to a row so nothing runs off the side; photos and Instagrime posts stay inside the screen. Checked at desktop, small window and phone-sized screens. Saves still load.
v41.1.1Search engines and AI tools now describe WaveFern as a 3D open-world game. Nothing changes in the game itself. Saves still load.
v41.1.0Steadier on every browser and device: if one part of the game hits an error it is now skipped and the rest keeps running, instead of the game freezing mid-play or getting stuck on the loading screen. If a game file breaks while loading, the game still starts and a small bar names the file. Also fixed the Music source setting not saving straight away. Saves still load.
v41.0.0The first-person computer monitor no longer squishes Spotifly or other apps: the screen now always keeps a full desktop-size layout and shrinks as a whole to fit the monitor in small, short or narrow windows, and re-fits when you open the computer, resize the window or come back from the pause menu. The right-click wallpaper menu opens where you click. Saves still load.
v40.9.3Fixed saves being rejected as invalid once you had met one of the five new collab people: loading a save removed their shoes from the outfit list, so drawing them crashed the load. Those saves load again, and a missing shoe or hat colour no longer stops a character being drawn. Saves still load.
v40.9.2Version numbers renumbered so the major number goes up every 10 feature updates instead of everything being v26. Saves still load.
v40.9.1Fixed save codes coming out invalid after being sent through a chat app like Discord or WhatsApp: new codes (starting FW3-) leave out the characters those apps change, and pasted codes now ignore line breaks, spaces, smart quotes and dashes. Older FW2- and FW1- codes still load. Saves still load.
v40.9.0Artists you have already made a collab with can now message you again to ask for another one. Before, their new offer was usually dropped if you had not texted them for a couple of days. Saves still load.
v40.8.0The Gphone now looks like a real phone in the game's own style: a chunky black-bordered body with side buttons, a notch with a camera, a pixel status bar, blocky app tiles, game-style panels and buttons, and a home bar. Removed the Bank, Stats, Maps and Deals apps: any money in Gphone Bank savings is moved back to your wallet. The phone keeps Messages, Spotifly (release songs), Instagrime, Goober Eats, Gigs, Camera, Photos and the Store, and upgrades still add fan buzz streams. Saves still load.
v40.7.0Gphone everyday apps: release your songs from the new Spotifly app (with today's streams and earnings live), order food in Goober Eats, book festival gigs in Gigs, and buy your next phone in the Store app, all without walking to the computer. Upgrades now pay off: every model from the Gphone 9 adds fan buzz to every song's daily streams (+2% up to +22% on the Gphone 18), the Gphone 9 lets you eat stored food anywhere, the Gphone 12 gives unlimited taxi rides from Maps, and apps open instantly from the Gphone 13. Saves still load.
v40.6.0Gphone overhaul: a clean new phone with a status bar, wallpaper home screen, app headers and a home bar. Real reasons to upgrade: Gphone 8 to 12 load apps slowly; every model earns more Instagrime followers from photo posts (double for a selfie with an artist); Gphone 10 adds the Stats app, 11 Maps, 12 taxi rides and +1 reputation for selfies with artists, 13 a Bank with savings interest each night, and 16 brand Deals that pay for a daily photo post. The gphone.wf shop lists what each model gives. Saves still load.
v40.5.3Fixed car hitboxes being square: each car now collides as a rectangle matching its real length and width, turning with the car, so long cars no longer snag on corners sideways and slim ones fit through gaps. Saves still load.
v40.5.2Fixed "X sent you a message" pop-ups showing when no message arrived: if an artist's message was dropped (they gave up on you), the pop-up no longer appears. Saves still load.
v40.5.1Fixed some saves being rejected as invalid: saves with missing or empty fields, a missing character look, or furniture the game no longer has now load with sensible defaults, and a code that still cannot load is kept under Recovered backups instead of being lost. Saves still load.
v40.5.0Driving: car hitboxes are smaller and cars now slide along walls instead of getting stuck, and a car trapped inside something is pushed free so reversing always works. The speedometer now matches the game look (blocky green panel, Silkscreen font). Saves still load.
v40.4.1Fixed the game failing to load (and filling the console with errors) when the main 3D library download is blocked or down: it now falls back to a second source before giving up. Saves still load.
v40.4.0You can now drag a recovered backup onto a career slot on the Choose a career screen. If the slot already has a career it asks before overwriting, and the replaced career is kept as a backup. Pressing Recover still works. Saves still load.
v40.3.2Fixed megastars still messaging small artists when only a few artists were left who had not contacted you yet: the unlikely ones were being picked anyway. Now, if only unlikely artists remain, usually nobody messages you that day. Saves still load.
v40.3.1Fixed the startup error screen possibly showing on slow devices that were just taking a while to load: it now only appears when something actually failed, otherwise you get the Keep waiting prompt after 25 seconds. Saves still load.
v40.3.0The game no longer hangs silently on the loading screen: if a game file fails to download, WebGL is missing, startup hits an error or loading takes too long, you now get a clear message with a Reload button (and a hint for graphics problems). If a file fails after the game has started, a small warning bar appears. Saves still load.
v40.1.1Fixed megastars like The Weeknd messaging small artists for collabs. The bigger an artist is compared to you, the exponentially less likely they are to reach out: artists near your level are the usual offers, and a megastar contacting a small artist is almost impossible, though never completely. Saves still load.
v40.2.0New Next Goal tracker (bottom-left, click to shrink): a ladder of goals from your first song to 100 million listeners, each paying a cash reward with a celebration. Releasing a song now pops up a card with confetti and a quality tag. Existing careers skip goals they already met. Saves still load.
v40.1.0The game now fits small and narrow windows better: the top boxes no longer overlap, the phone fills a small screen, and the Amazoom header and computer apps shrink to fit. Saves still load.
v40.0.0Made the game easier to find in search engines and AI tools: added a page description, share-link previews, search data, robots.txt, sitemap.xml and llms.txt. Nothing changes in the game itself. Saves still load.
v39.9.8Fixed the screen going pitch black on rainy days when a chat or collab menu opened: the weather lighting now fades out smoothly instead of breaking. Saves still load.
v39.9.7Faster frame rate: the game no longer wastes time updating the thousands of objects inside hidden shops, floors and far-away parts of the world every frame. Saves still load.
v39.9.6Fixed lag in long careers: the game now saves every 30 seconds when idle instead of every 5 (big saves froze the game for a moment each time), and song streams are counted about 8 times a second instead of every frame. It still saves when you close or leave the tab. Saves still load.
v39.9.5Fixed Recover on the Choose a career screen: a recovered backup now takes the first free career slot and loads it, and if both slots are full it tells you and keeps the backup. Recovered backups are now a collapsible dropdown. Saves still load.
v39.9.4Fixed the First-person monitor setting turning itself back on: it now stays off when you switch it off, and is remembered between visits. Saves still load.
v39.9.3Fixed a new career not appearing in the Choose a career list: it now saves the moment you finish making your character. Saves still load.
v39.9.2Fixed careers not saving or overwriting each other: each tab now saves only to its own career slot, a bad load no longer deletes the save, and the old copy is kept as a backup. Backups show under Recovered backups on the Choose a career screen. Saves still load.
v39.9.1Fixed music stuttering: the song and beat player now schedules notes further ahead, so short game hitches (busy city, phone camera, weather) no longer make the music skip or lag. Saves still load.
v39.9.0Gphone camera: city buildings, shop fronts and street details now have their back and side faces in the first person view, so they look solid and 3D instead of flat. Saves still load.
v39.8.0Gphone camera: buildings no longer fade away in the first person view, fountain sparkles and weather are drawn properly, and inside buildings the camera keeps the normal game view so nothing glitches. You can now walk (W/S) and turn (A/D) while taking selfies. New phone shop website on the computer browser: gphone.wf. Saves still load.
v39.7.0Gphone camera: the black bar now sits at the right edge instead of the middle of the screen. Selfies with an artist only work when that artist is standing near you (the dropdown lists the artists close by), and nobody is moved any more: the camera swings round to you both. Saves still load.
v39.6.1Fixed the Gphone not opening: pressing G now opens your phone again. Saves still load.
v39.6.0Gphone camera is now a full-screen viewfinder with a shutter button and a PHOTO / SELFIE switch, no grid lines. PHOTO is first person: walk with W and S, turn with A and D, tilt with R and F, and take the shot with the button, Space or Enter. SELFIE puts the camera in front of you with your arm out, alone or with anyone beside you. The phone home screen now uses the same pixel icons as the computer. Press G or Esc to leave the camera. Saves still load.
v39.5.0Press G to open your Gphone (not while driving, on the computer, recording or at a festival). You start with a laggy Gphone 8; Gphone 9 to 18 are sold on Amazoom, up to $2,500 for the Gphone 18, with sharper photos and less shutter lag. Apps: Messages, Instagrime, Camera (selfies with anyone, or a photo of the world) and Photos (post any photo to Instagrime). Five new people now ask to collab early and mid game: John Dodds, Sochi Irukwu, Gutch, Billy Butler and Amir Suenu (with a smell cloud). The art gallery curator is now tall and skinny with glasses and salt and pepper curls. Saves still load.
v39.4.0Create album: 12 more cover backgrounds (Diagonal, Rings, Zigzag, Stars, Plaid, Waves, Spotlight, Triangles, Bricks, Halftone, Glow, Confetti) and 9 more borders (Black, Film strip, Gold, Dashed, Corners, Rounded, White frame, Checker, Neon). Saves still load.
v39.3.0Create album is back to how it was, with 20 new cover symbols added (butterfly, anchor, key, umbrella, hourglass, coffee, cherry, mushroom, snowflake, leaf, house, arrow, fish, trophy, bell, lightbulb, paw, balloon, pizza, ring). The extra options from v26.131 are removed. Saves still load.
v39.2.0Famous artists now look like their real-life counterparts in blocky pixel form: skin tone, hair style and colour, beards and moustaches, shades or glasses, and signature clothes for about 80 artists (Drake, Kendrick, The Weeknd, Ed Sheeran, Billie Eilish, Taylor Swift, Beyonce and many more) in Messages, collabs and Spotifly Browse. Made-up artists keep their own looks. Facial hair is a new part and shows on pixel portraits and 3D characters. Saves still load.
v39.1.0Create album has far more options: random name and title endings (Deluxe, Live, Vol. 2...), release type (Album, EP, Mixtape, Live album and more), genre, mood and format, a liner note, 10 cover art styles with a re-roll button, 12 more colour pairs plus your own colours, filters, 8 borders, stickers, and one-tap track ordering (best first, peak in the middle, newest, A to Z, shuffle...). Albums show their type and note in your discography. Saves still load.
v39.0.0Song and album cover pictures redrawn: every song now gets a proper pixel scene (sunset skyline, vinyl, flower, mountains, planet, city at night, shapes, portrait of you, synthwave or ocean) in a palette picked from the song, chosen by its genre and title instead of random noise. The same song always gets the same cover. Saves still load.
v38.9.0Spotifly Browse artists now lists every artist in the game (Kiaan, Panic Man Dan, Alex Arbuckle, Drake, The Weeknd and the rest) plus over a hundred more famous and made-up artists, and each artist shows their in-game face as their picture. Their songs and albums are made up. Saves still load.
v38.8.0Spotifly: new Browse artists page in the sidebar. Search or filter by genre across 26 made-up artists (including Alex Arbuckle and the rivals), open any artist page to see monthly listeners, Popular songs with stream counts, albums and an album view, and play their music with the play, shuffle, next and previous controls. Numbers are fixed for each artist and creep up slowly each day. Saves still load.
v38.7.0Gramophone Awards: the crowd now really claps (arms come up and the hands meet and part, out of step from person to person) and throws their arms up and cheers on big moments. Seated people rest their thighs on the seat with their shins hanging down, so legs no longer clip through the chairs. The Gramophone Trophy is far more detailed: stepped marble base with an engraved plate and gold studs, a collared stem, a vinyl record with a red label and tone arm, and a layered golden horn. Saves still load.
v38.6.1Spotifly scrollbars now match the app: thin dark bars with no arrows, a rounded grey thumb that turns green on hover, including the Now playing panel. The horizontal scrollbar is gone. Saves still load.
v38.6.0Gramophone Awards overhaul: when your song wins you now get up from your seat and walk to the stage yourself (WASD or arrows, take the steps, press E at the glowing ring to collect the trophy from the presenter). The crowd now applauds with a real applause sound loop and cheers, stands and turns to watch you. Fixed two people sharing one chair, and the audience now has legs, faces, hair and outfits from the game's own clothes. The hall also gets velvet curtains, footlights, flower urns, aisle lights, a spotlight that follows you and an ON AIR sign. Saves still load.
v38.5.1Monthly listeners no longer sit frozen on days with big streams: each day with streams now adds new listeners (a share of the day's streams), and new releases give an extra bump based on your interest. Saves still load.
v38.5.0Two careers: Play on the main menu now opens a career select screen with two slots (artist name, day, Play and delete). Once both slots are used, New career is greyed out and says Coming soon on hover. Your existing career moves into slot 1 automatically. Cloud save follows the career you last played. Saves still load.
v38.4.0The Music source dropdown in Settings now matches the game's look: dark field, green pixel arrow and a green focus outline instead of the plain system dropdown. Saves still load.
v38.3.2Song name randomiser: swapped the weaker new words for more vivid ones so default titles sound better and repeat less. Saves still load.
v38.3.1Sound effects softened so they stay pleasant on repeat: gentler highs, shorter reverb on frequent sounds like clicks and pops, a softer rounded error tone, and tiny pitch variation so repeats do not grate. Saves still load.
v38.3.0Sound effects reworked: softer clicks with no pops, richer layered tones with a gentle filter sweep, smoother reverb tails on pings, chimes, cash and notifications, a two-tone error buzz and a punchier thunk, and more even volume across all effects. Saves still load.
v38.2.0The random song name generator has 100 more words (50 new openers and 50 new endings), so far more unique default titles. Saves still load.
v38.1.0Gramophone Awards rebuilt: a much bigger hall in the city (east of Nova Mall, red carpet, columns, giant gold gramophone on the roof, no overlap). The ceremony is now a real 3D pixel-style broadcast with you and the nominees as in-game characters (Drake, Kendrick, Beyonce and others styled like themselves), seated crowd that claps and stands, confetti, and captions that always finish. You walk up yourself if you win. Ceremonies are every 15 days. The test save code can attend every day and always wins.
v38.0.1The Gramophone Awards is now its own grand building at the end of your street (gold marquee, red carpet, columns, a giant gold gramophone on the roof), not a door in a skyscraper.
v38.0.0New: the Gramophone Awards hall in the city, open to Fame Level 120 and up. Check in at the reception (red carpet, champagne, trophy case), pick a song to submit, then watch the full broadcast ceremony: host, other categories, your nominees, the drumroll and envelope, and the winner walking up to hold the trophy with everyone clapping. You compete against big names like Drake, Beyonce and Kendrick, and only the best song wins. A win puts a Gramophone Trophy in Storage to place in your house. One ceremony every 30 days.
v37.9.0Added Google Analytics (anonymous visit and key game event counts, no personal data). A short one-time notice explains it, and Settings > Game has an Analytics on/off switch that is remembered on this device.
v37.8.0Catalogue boost catch-up: every existing song gets a one-time jump (about a week of the new catalogue streams at once), paid out immediately with a notification, and todays streams are topped up too. Adds only, nothing is taken away.
v37.7.2Removed the one-time update bonus. Nobody loses any listeners or streams they already have.
v37.7.1The one-time update bonus (+2,000 monthly listeners, +6,000 streams) now only goes to careers on exactly 767 monthly listeners.
v37.7.0Evened out the catalogue: every song now streams in proportion to your monthly listeners, so none sit near zero. Fixed monthly listeners (and fame) dropping while streams are positive: they now use a rolling 30 days and never fall on a day with streams. Existing careers on 767 monthly listeners or fewer get a one-time +2,000 monthly listeners and +6,000 streams shared across their songs.
v37.6.0Catalogue halo: when one song takes off, your monthly listeners dig into your older songs too, so your least streamed song no longer sits at a few hundred while your hit has millions. The boost scales with your monthly listeners, song quality and age, so early game is unchanged, and it feeds back into your monthly listeners as the streams roll in.
v37.5.1Google sign-in: an account that has played before just loads its saved career. Only a brand new Google account (no cloud save) asks whether to keep your current career or start a new one, and the choice is saved to the account.
v37.5.0Signing in with Google no longer wipes your save. If your Google account already has a cloud save, you are asked whether to keep your current career or start a new one (starting new asks you to confirm), and the one you pick is saved to your account. If the account has no cloud save, your current game is uploaded. Saves still load.
v37.4.2Settings > Music: Music source is now a dropdown (Soundtrack or My songs) and only shows the options for the one you pick: the track list, order and skip for Soundtrack, or the number of top songs to loop for My songs.
v37.4.1Pausing while on the computer now blurs and dims the screen behind the pause menu, like pausing anywhere else.
v37.4.0New Settings option under Music: Music source. Choose the soundtrack or your own released songs. With My songs on, your top songs (ranked by streams) loop outside the computer, and you pick how many, for example your top 3. With no released songs the soundtrack plays. Saved with your game.
v37.3.2The pause menu on the computer now has every button (Resume, Stats, Settings, Tutorial and the rest) and the PC screen stays visible while Settings or Stats are open. The monitor stand is much wider, flat with no shading.
v37.3.1Label HQ in the App Barn now says "Sign with labels.". The monitor stand is thicker. Pausing on the computer no longer makes the screen disappear: the PC stays visible with the pause menu over it.
v37.3.0Label HQ is coming soon in the App Barn and is removed from every account and save. The monitor stand is a much thicker flat stick with no shading. Song descriptions no longer show the album name and number.
v37.2.0PC and Label HQ. The monitor power button sits on the bottom right of the frame, the walls lose their outline, the stand is just a stick, and the power button hides when First-person monitor is off. Drag on the desktop to draw selection squares, just for show. Label HQ always shows its username and password sign-in, and has its own navy and gold look.
v37.1.0PC monitor tweaks. The first-person monitor shows much less wall and stand, and the walls and monitor frame are pixelated like the rest of the game. New Settings > Game option, First-person monitor, switches back to the full screen computer. Esc now opens the pause menu on the computer, the Pause button is gone, and a power button on the bottom of the monitor frame leaves the PC instantly. Furniture can now be placed touching the walls (not inside them). Albums no longer show the percentage boost text; the boost just happens.
v37.0.0Big game update. Two new soundtrack tracks (Box and Catch). Streaming pay halved and gear prices now grow exponentially per level (and give more). Record labels now message you with deals based on your listeners, streams and reputation; signing gives a bonus and a Label HQ login, and HQ is locked and needs that login. Label quality changes HQ prices, benefits, max level and the cut the label keeps. Messaging understands much more slang (500+ new words), reads short answers in context, stops messaging you after 1 to 2 days of being ignored, sends far fewer chat-only messages, and no longer drops your artist name into canned lines. Instagrime: new accounts start with no posts, no food posts, a working Back to feed button, per-song analytics that update live, capped percentages, and ads use the Instagrime icon. New pixel-art Spotifly icon. Amazoom beds sleep, wardrobes open, desks left Amazoom (upgrade in the Gear shop, the starter desk is permanent). Storage button (bottom right) with Furniture and Food tabs; food goes to storage and is eaten by clicking it. You cannot leave Storage without a bed. Desktop icons are fixed on a wrapping grid. The computer is shown as a physical monitor with a Pause button (and P key, and tab switching pauses). One blocky tree style everywhere. New rapper Alex Arbuckle DMs you early on. Fixed 100-stats.js failing to load (name clash).
v36.9.0New Stats section in both the main menu and the pause menu: days played, money earned and held, total streams, monthly listeners (and your peak), followers, songs released, hits, viral songs, albums and your best song. Peaks are tracked from now on; old saves still load.
v36.8.0Song quality starts low and takes a long time to build. Every song you record is multiplied by an experience factor that starts at 30 percent and climbs with the songs you have recorded, the mentors you unlock and your fame level, so a new player makes poor songs and decent ones take roughly 150 songs. Weak songs also stream less. Going viral is now far rarer: about 0.03 percent per release at the best quality (it was 0.3 percent) and much lower for weaker songs. Saves still load.
v36.7.0The furniture that comes with the house (bed, bedside table, desk + laptop and bedroom rug) can now be moved and stored like any other piece: hover it for the yellow outline, press E to store it, or click it to pick it up and move it. Sleeping follows the bed and the laptop follows the desk, so put them back before you need them. Old saves load as before.
v36.6.2Songs are audible again. The Spotifly mute/volume stayed stuck after you left Spotifly (so songs in the studio and at the festival played silently), and a soundtrack volume of 0 (the M key) also silenced every song. Now only Spotifly's own player uses its volume, and songs always play even with the soundtrack muted.
v36.6.1Update notice fix: if you close the notice it comes back after 5 minutes while the game is still out of date, and if pressing Update does not land on the new version the notice says so and offers a stronger Retry. Saves still load.
v36.6.0Furniture storing is now the E key instead of right-click. In furniture mode, hover a placed item to see a yellow outline around it, then press E to store it (or press E while holding an item to put it back in storage).
v36.5.0Spotifly looks like a real artist page. A big header with your name, Verified by Spotifly and your monthly listeners, a big play button and shuffle, and a numbered Popular list with each song's cover, streams and length (See more shows the rest). A Now playing panel on the right and a player bar along the bottom show the song that is playing, and both have a pause button that really pauses it, plus previous, next, shuffle, repeat and volume. When a song ends the next one plays. Albums now boost their songs' streams: track 1 gets +60%, every other track +25%, and double that in the first two weeks after release. Saves still load.
v36.4.0Collabs now depend on who you work with. Every artist has a set number of monthly listeners, shown in Messages next to their name. A collab song gets extra streams from that artist's own fans: about 1% of their monthly listeners a day at release, fading like any song, and more for better songs, good chemistry and hits. A feature with a big artist pays off even while you are small. Saves still load.
v36.3.0Weather. Each day now has its own weather, kept in your save so a reload never changes it. 9 days in 10 are sunny; the rest bring rain, fog or a thunderstorm with lightning. Bad weather dims and greys the light outside and you hear the rain, but it stays out of your house: walk inside and the light is back to normal, the rain only falls on the land around the house (and stops on the roof when you are outside), and the fog drifts over the ground but not through your rooms. Shops and other interiors stay dry. The weather shows next to the time of day. Saves still load.
v36.2.0Create album now picks songs like a festival setlist: your track list on the left (move songs up or down, or remove them) and your unused songs on the right with + Add, in Spotifly colours. There is no limit on how many songs an album has, and + Add all adds every unused song. Collab titles no longer show "feat." twice, and the face-on-cover checkbox sits next to its text. Saves still load.
v36.1.1The game now checks for a new version every 30 seconds instead of every minute, so the update notice shows up sooner. Saves still load.
v36.1.0The Suburban House is no longer for sale on the Property website. It is the house you start in, so buying it cost $12,000 and gave you nothing. You can book the Hillside Villa straight away, and an old booking for the Suburban House is cancelled without charging you. Saves still load.
v36.0.0When a new version of the game is out, a small notice pops up at the top of the screen. Press Update to save your game (and to the cloud if you are signed in) and refresh into the newest version, or press the cross to keep playing. Saves still load.
v35.9.0Each soundtrack track in Settings > Music has a Preview button. It plays 5 seconds from the middle of the track (a 1 minute track starts at 30 seconds), pausing the menu music or soundtrack meanwhile, which comes back after. Press it again to stop early. Saves still load.
v35.8.0Every new song now gets its own beat, so no two songs sound the same. Collabs used to pick their beat from the artist's genre and the song number, so two players collabing with the same artist could get the exact same song; now each one is different. Songs only use the major and minor scales. Songs you already made keep their beat, though a few that used other scales now play in major or minor. Saves still load.
v35.7.0Settings has more depth, split into Sound, Music, Game and Save tabs. You can turn the main menu music and the pause menu music off on their own, pick which of the three soundtrack tracks play, play them shuffled or in order, and skip the track that is playing. There is also an Ambience volume for the city sounds, and switches for footsteps, music from passing cars and name tags above people, plus Reset settings. Settings are remembered in this browser. Saves still load.
v35.6.1The main menu and pause menu are now plain text: no icons or emoji on the buttons, title or cloud save status. Saves still load.
v35.6.0Bodyguards decide which fans get to you. With no guards every fan can come up and ask for an autograph, with 1 guard half of them get through, with 2 only 1 in 10, and with 3 nobody. Any fan who gets through might be a fake fan who robs you when you sign: 5% with no guards, 2.5% with 1, 0.5% with 2. Saves still load.
v35.5.0Fake fans can only rob you when they ask for an autograph and you sign it, never at random. Bodyguards with you lower the risk: 5% with none, 2.5% with one, 0.5% with two, and with three you can never be robbed. Bodyguards no longer turn fans away, so fans still walk up and ask for autographs. Saves still load.
v35.4.0Shop doors on your street no longer flicker or clip into the walls. Every doorway is rebuilt with a proper frame, a dark reveal, the door, its glass, handle and kick plate each set slightly in front of the last, and the base trim and the Pet Shop fence now stop at the doorway instead of running across it. Saves still load.
v35.3.0The shops on your street are rebuilt. Jewellery, Property, the Corner shop, the Radio station, the Pet Shop and Security now have clean, tidy entrances and a fully detailed outside: brick or rendered walls in normal colours, a proper shopfront with framed windows and window displays, a recessed glass door with a step, a painted fascia sign, lamps, awnings, upstairs windows with flower boxes, side windows, drainpipes, cornices and roof details. Motors stays as it was. Saves still load.
v35.2.0Shops have their own look and you can walk into all of them. The seven shops on your street are no longer plain boxes: the Jewellery has marble and gold with a giant gem on the roof, Property has listing boards and a little house, the Corner shop has fruit crates and a freezer, the Radio station has an antenna mast and dish, Motors has a glass showroom, flags and a show car, the Pet Shop has a fish tank, a kennel and a bone on the roof, and Security has cameras, floodlights, bollards and a barrier. Motors, the Pet Shop and Security now have rooms inside (a showroom, a pet shop with tanks and cages, a CCTV office); talk to the keeper to pick up your booked appointment. Every shop front on the city towers (cafe, bakery, pizza, noodles, sushi, books, vinyl, florist, pharmacy, gym, bank, laundry, gallery and more) has window displays and props in its theme and opens into its own room: food places sell you something to eat or drink for energy. Watch out: when a fan walks up to you there is a 5% chance they are a thief who steals 35% of your cash. A bodyguard following you stops them. Saves still load.
v35.1.0Taxis are now once a day: pick one place on the map (N), then the taxi can take you back once to where it picked you up. After the ride back there is no taxi until the next day. New in the city: Sal's Barbershop, next to the City Cafe or along the same row (look for the barber pole and Barbershop on the map). Talk to Sal to try on any hairstyle on your character before you pay: 12 new detailed barbershop styles (curtains, wolf cut, mullet, pompadour, man bun, box braids, bantu knots, faux hawk, slick back, high top fade, pixie cut, long waves) from $45 to $120, the 20 classic cuts for $20, and a new hair colour for $15. Saves still load.
v35.0.1Admin gifts are now one kind at a time: pick money, streams or monthly listeners and type one amount. Saves still load.
v35.0.0Admin panel for the admin account (main menu and pause menu): change your own money, monthly listeners, streams, followers, day and time, unlock gear, apps, furniture, cars, pets, clothes and more, see every player, and send any player a gift of money, streams and monthly listeners with a message. Gifts pop up the next time that player plays and can only be claimed once. Saves still load.
v34.9.0Signing in with Google now always wipes the save on this device first, and it is never uploaded. Your account's cloud save then loads, or a new game starts if the account has none. Signing out keeps your game on this device as a guest save. Saves still load.
v34.8.1A Google account signing in to WaveFern for the very first time now always wipes this device and starts a new game, even when cloud saves are not reachable. Before, the wipe could be skipped if the cloud check failed. Saves still load.
v34.8.0Gifts: a signed-in player can now receive a one-time gift. It pops up in game the next time they play, and is saved to their Google account so it is never given twice. First gift: $1,000 from Rowan. Saves still load.
v34.7.0Main menu: the game now opens on a menu with Play, Settings and Sign in with Google, and your profile in the top right. When you are signed in, your cloud save always loads by itself, with no question. The pause menu has a new Save & quit button that saves to your Google account straight away and goes back to the menu. Saves still load.
v34.6.1The game loads much faster. The music tracks no longer have to download before the game can start (they load on your first click or key), and the loading screen goes away as soon as the world is ready instead of counting up for another two seconds. Saves still load.
v34.6.0Signing in with a Google account that has never been used in WaveFern now starts a brand new game: a notice explains it, then this device's save is wiped and you make a new character. Copy your save code first if you want to keep it (the sign-in notice has a button). Accounts that already have a cloud save work as before. Saves still load.
v34.5.0Before Google sign-in, the game now shows a notice telling you to copy your save code and keep it safe, with a Copy save code button, since picking a cloud save can replace the save on this device. Saves still load.
v34.4.0Cloud saves: sign in with Google (pause menu, or the character screen on a new device) and your game saves to your Google account, so you can carry on from any device without sharing save codes. If two devices have different saves, the game asks which one to keep. Playing without signing in works as before, and save codes still work. Saves still load.
v34.3.1Google sign-in is now switched on: press Esc and pick Sign in with Google in the pause menu. Signing in is still optional and saves still stay in this browser. Saves still load.
v34.3.0Optional Google sign-in: once the game is connected to Firebase, the pause menu (Esc) has a Sign in with Google button and shows who is signed in, with Sign out. Playing without signing in works exactly as before, and saves still stay in this browser. Saves still load.
v34.2.1Fixed the computer freezing: one broken chat, app or saved setting could stop Messages opening and make the Start menu do nothing. Now a broken chat is repaired, an app that cannot open shows a short notice or closes on its own, and Start and Shut down always work. The day clock keeps running if one song hits a problem. Saves already stuck like this are repaired when they load. Saves still load.
v34.2.0Your own pictures: upload a picture for your Spotifly profile (artist page), your Instagrime profile (Account) or as an Instagrime photo post (Account > Photo post, with your own caption; still one post a day). Every upload is pixelated to match the game: profile pictures become 32x32 and photo posts 48x36, both in 16 colours. Use drawn avatar switches back. Pictures are stored small (under 1.3 KB each) so saves and save codes stay short; your 40 newest photo posts keep their photo. Saves still load.
v34.1.0Promotions reworked: Instagrime > Account > Promotions has three packages. Boost (1.5x streams for 3 days), Campaign (2x for 5 days) and Blitz (3x for 7 days). The price follows your monthly listeners: $40 + $0.002, $150 + $0.006 and $600 + $0.015 per monthly listener, so the bigger you are the more it costs. A promotion starts straight away and brings followers. Each promotion shows its stats before, during and after (song streams per day, monthly listeners, followers), a daily chart and the extra streams it brought in, and you get a message when it is over. Saves still load.
v34.0.0More to spend on later in your career: a free Label HQ app in the App Barn lets you hire a manager (+10% streams per level), a producer (+4 song quality), a PR team (cheaper, longer promotions), marketing (+20% hit chance) and build out your studio (+5 song quality). Each has four levels from $5,000 to $30,000,000 that unlock with fame. The Apex Sports now costs $25,000, the Phantom GT $90,000, the Hillside Villa $75,000 and the Penthouse Loft $250,000. Early prices are unchanged and anything you already own stays yours. Saves still load.
v33.9.0Song performance: higher quality songs stream clearly better, and collabs get a bigger boost the more popular the collaborator and the better the song. Each release has about an 8% chance to be a 🔥 HIT (3 to 6 times its normal streams; better songs hit more often) and a very rare chance to go 🚀 VIRAL (at most 0.3%, for the best songs): at least 5,000,000 streams plus a big extra based on your monthly listeners, over two weeks. You get a pop-up, a Spotifly Team message and a tag on the song. Saves still load.
v33.8.0Spotifly: Delete song is now a bin icon on the song's own row (it still asks first). You can play unreleased drafts on the Upload tab before you upload them. Playing a draft does not count streams or earnings. Saves still load.
v33.7.0More beat samples: 35 more recorded one-shots join the beats. Flutes, strings and a synth are new sounds for melodies and chords, and the bass, bell, brass, key and pluck sounds are wider. Each sample is pitched to the song's key. Drums and the main soundtrack are unchanged. Saves still load.
v33.6.0Beats use real recorded one-shots: bass, bell, brass, keys, lead, piano and pluck sounds are pitched to each song's key for basslines, chords and hook melodies. Drums and the main soundtrack are unchanged. Until the samples load, the old synth sounds play. Saves still load.
v33.5.0Amazoom models rebuilt: fish tank (open glass-look tank, sand, plants, readable animated fish), wardrobe (clean doors and handles), piano (keys, pedals, music desk), cat tree (rope posts, platforms, house, scratching post, hanging toy)
v33.4.2Fixed the colour bug behind the cyan and blue patches: lighter shades of furniture (cream sideboard, pale sofas and beanbags) no longer shift hue. Sofa cushions no longer overlap the arms, so the seam is gone. The beanbag is a stepped cushion, not a block. The fish tank has a lighter hood and a brighter water panel. Saves still load.
v33.4.1Two furniture models fixed: the drum kit's snare no longer sits inside the bass drum, and the bin is one clean box instead of stacked rings. No other changes. Saves still load.
v33.4.0Amazoom furniture previews are drawn at twice the resolution, so the details read. The fish tank is see-through with sand, rocks, two swaying plants, three swimming fish and rising bubbles. The clock pendulum swings and the leaves on the rubber and monstera plants sway, in the shop, in your hand and in the house. Listing text is unchanged. Saves still load.
v33.3.0Amazoom listings are back to their original text: the extra descriptions, bullets, finishes, reviews and the size, weight and warranty line are gone. The furniture models are chunkier with contrasting details (cushions, handles, drawer fronts, bed posts, piano keys, lamp and clock trim), so they read at the shop preview size. Saves still load.
v33.2.1Billboards now stand mostly on the right side of the road, as seen in the direction of travel, so drivers see them. The fame thresholds are unchanged. Saves still load.
v33.2.0Amazoom furniture models are more detailed. Every item gets extra parts for its kind: legs and feet, cushions and seams, handles, trim, keys, faces and small props. The shop preview, the item you hold and the one you place in the house all use the new models. Listing text is unchanged. Saves still load.
v33.1.1FestivalApp headings now use its condensed poster font, not the game's pixel font. No gameplay changes.
v33.1.0FestivalApp and the Gear shop each have their own look. FestivalApp is a neon festival poster: caps headings, magenta and lime ticket cards and buttons. The Gear shop is a studio equipment rack: charcoal panels, amber meters and monospace labels. Layout and prices are unchanged. docs/THEMES.md describes both. Saves still load.
v33.0.0Texting is livelier. Ordinary artists reach out more often, up to three chats a day, and they often send a follow-up message. There are twelve new conversation starters and six new follow-ups. When you send a long message, the reply often builds on it. Saves still load.
v32.9.0Amazoom listings have more detail. Each item has a longer description, three feature bullets, the finishes it comes in and a customer review with its star rating. The same item always reads the same way. Buying works as before. Saves still load.
v32.8.0Billboards are harder to earn and easier to see. Your own name joins the rotation at 10,000 monthly listeners (was 1,000), and roster artists need 5,000 or more (was 120). About 4 in 5 billboards now stand on the left of the road's way of travel. Big Vee's billboard answer has the new numbers. Saves still load.
v32.7.0Famous artists reach out only once you are well known. Artists with 50,000 or more monthly listeners DM you once you have 25,000; Panic Man Dan waits for 5,000. All these thresholds sit at the top of 75-collab-fees-dms.js. Saves still load.
v32.6.0Driving is back to the original third-person camera: the first-person car view, the pixel pass, the steering wheel and arm work, and the camera easing are removed, and the city merge is back to how it was. Economy, minigames, Spotifly delete, Big Vee, Amazoom, height, Panic Man Dan and billboards are unchanged.
v32.5.0Buildings are solid volumes from the street and from the car. The city merge had kept only three of each box's six faces, which left the back and bottom out; every face is kept now and the merge buffers are sized for them. Driving is smoother: the view eases after the car in position and heading, so small jitter in the car's motion does not reach the picture. Saves unchanged.
v32.4.0Driving view fixes: the steering wheel is tilted towards the driver and rolls about its column, with a bright marker at 12 o'clock so the turn reads clearly, and the hands stay on the rim. The cockpit is drawn at a third of the screen resolution and scaled up with nearest-neighbour filtering, so it reads as pixel art. Nothing is saved.
v32.3.0Driving rebuilt in 3D. The car interior (dashboard, pillars, door trims, instrument cluster with needles, centre console, mirrors) is real geometry with small pixel-art panels. Two arms reach the wheel and the hands ride the rim. The wheel turns in proportion to A and D and springs back to centre. City buildings keep every wall face, so they are solid from the street and from the car. Nothing is saved, so existing saves are unchanged.
v32.2.0Driving is now first person, like sitting in the car: a windscreen view of the road, A-pillars, both wing mirrors and the rear-view mirror, the dashboard with instrument cluster, and a steering wheel with both hands on it that turns with A and D. The car's body is hidden from inside. The speed box and Exit key work as before. Nothing is saved, so existing saves are unchanged.
v32.1.0Billboards beside the main city roads. They rotate every 10 seconds through the famous roster artists, including Panic Man Dan. Once you reach 1,000 monthly listeners your own name joins the rotation. Big Vee now answers questions about billboards and height. Billboard posts are solid.
v32.0.0New artist: Panic Man Dan, a top-tier rock act with short grey hair, a black tee and a guitar strap, drawn in full colour. He is the shortest character height and only reaches out once you have 5,000 monthly listeners. He joins the end of the roster, so saved conversations are unchanged.
v31.9.0Height: character creation has a Height slider from Short to Tall, with Average in the middle. Randomise sets it too. NPCs now vary in height, and most of them are close to average. Saves without a height load as average.
v31.8.0Amazoom listings have more detail: each furniture and gear item shows its size, weight, material, assembly time and a 1 year warranty under the description. The same item always shows the same specs.
v31.7.0Big Vee, the guide in Messages, understands more. Typos and slang are tidied up (a word one letter off is corrected), he answers money, listener, fame, day and song questions from your own save, and a short 'why?' or 'how?' repeats his last answer. Adds a Spotifly topic for deleting songs. Nothing is saved, so older saves are unchanged.
v31.6.0You can delete a song from Spotifly. Open the artist page and press Delete song under it, then confirm. The song leaves your top songs, its album and stops earning. Saves still load.
v31.5.0Recording a song now has three minigames: Beat, Lyrics and Mix. The memory one (Melody, watch and repeat the pads) is removed, and song quality is based on Lyrics and Mix. Saves still load.
v31.4.0Income rebalance: each stream now pays $0.10 (was $0.03), so a day of about 300 streams pays around $30. Gear costs 20% lower and song pacing a little faster. All tuning sits in one TUNE block in 02-data.js. Saves still load and keep their balances.
v31.3.1Kiaan comes up less often in DMs and collab outreach: about a third of a normal artist's chance. Everything else about him is the same. Saves are unchanged.
v31.3.0New rapper: Kiaan. A new rap artist joins the roster with the same chance as any other artist to DM you for a collab, and the same negotiation, collab and fee rules. Existing saves and save codes still load; the new artist is added at the end of the roster so saved conversations are unchanged.
v31.2.0Calendar and date-arranging removed. The Calendar app, the set-a-date panel, scheduled collabs, no-show and late-cancel fees, artist busy times and place rules are gone. A collab goes back to the instant flow: agree the price in Messages, press Confirm & pay (or Accept & get paid), and the session happens right away. Festival booking stays as it was, it just no longer checks a calendar. Old saves and FW1-/FW2- codes still load. A collab that was scheduled but had not started goes back to agreed terms, with any fee it had taken refunded; a session already under way stays booked; the Calendar app is removed. Kept: the negotiation, the price formula, popularity-based DMs, Messages upgrades and the shorter save codes.
v31.1.0Shorter save codes. New codes start with FW2- and carry exactly the same game data, so nothing is lost. In test saves they came out 46% shorter early in a career, 62% shorter mid-game and 71% shorter late game. Old FW1- codes still load, the tutorial save-code step accepts both, and the autosave switches to the new format the next time it saves.
v31.0.0Messages upgrades. Clear any chat from its header (asks first, deletes the messages for good, and it only comes back if that artist messages you again; chats with a booked collab cannot be cleared). Big Vee is now in Messages from the start, pinned at the top, and you can text him for help: tap a topic or type a question. Pin or unpin any chat. Search chats by name or message text. The dot on a profile picture now only shows while a chat is unread and goes away once you open it. The New button now opens a clearly labelled Suggested people list so it no longer looks like a pile of new DMs. Older saves load as before.
v30.9.1Set-a-date panel polish in Messages: clearer "More options" toggle with a chevron, larger tap targets on chips, buttons and pickers, hover and press feedback, and a stacked layout on phone-width screens. Scheduling rules, fees and calendar entries are unchanged.
v30.9.0Simpler set-a-date panel for collabs. The best free slot is pre-selected, up to three one-tap suggested slots sit right under the status line, and the day, time and place pickers are behind "More options" (opened by default when nothing is free). Shorter text throughout. Location rules, conflicts, fees and calendar entries work exactly as before.
v30.8.1Messages set-a-date panel now uses the Messages look (cream and plum, pink-to-violet buttons and chips) instead of the dark green default. Added docs/THEMES.md, a theme sheet for every app so new UI matches.
v30.8.0Scheduled collabs, fair fees and smarter DMs. A collab no longer happens the moment you pay. You agree the fee, then pick a day, a time and a place (in Messages, or just type "friday at 3pm at the cafe", "tomorrow evening", "day 15"). The artist checks their own calendar and rules and yours: if they cannot do it they tell you why (rest day, other business, working hours, notice needed, how far ahead they will commit, a place they never go or only visit on certain weekdays, another session or festival slot) and suggest slots that work for both of you. Places on an artist's never list cannot be bargained into. Once agreed the session sits in your Calendar. Nothing is charged when you schedule (you just need the fee in your pocket); when the time comes, even if you slept through the day or loaded your game later, the money moves once, the artist turns up at the place and waits for 3 hours, and you walk up to them to record as before. Cancelling or moving more than a day ahead is free; under a day, cancelling costs 25% of the fee (plus 1 reputation) and moving costs 10%. Cancel while the artist is already waiting and you get 75% of a fee back (a payment you received goes back in full). If you never show, a fee you paid is lost, a payment you received is taken back, reputation drops by 2, the artist cools off for 5 days, and you are never charged twice. A finished collab gives +1 reputation and puts a release day in your calendar. One fee function now prices everything: small artists charge a modest fee that grows with their audience (about $6 at a handful of listeners, $35 for a 150-listener artist, a few hundred for 2,000), a bit more the bigger they are compared with you and a bit less for artists you have worked with or a good reputation; when they message you first they pay you a share of what your own audience is worth, never more than 80% of their own fee. Who messages you now depends on your size: artists about your size are the most common, slightly smaller ones frequent, slightly bigger ones occasional (more when you are growing), much smaller ones rare unless there is a reason (same sound, a past collab), and big stars rarely contact an unknown player, with the chance rising with your listeners, reputation and momentum. Genre fit, reputation and noise decide between similar artists. This applies on the first day too. Offers now come with the pay, the terms and a few dates to choose from.
v30.7.0Calendar, weekdays and where artists will go. A free Calendar app is on your computer (it installs itself on old saves too, and is listed free in App Barn). It shows everything with a time in one place: scheduled sessions, festival sets booked in FestivalApp, release days and anything you add yourself (recording sessions, promo, other). Month view and day view, with a Show menu to look at an artist instead of yourself and see when they are free or busy (green and orange hours, rest days, other business, and the places they will not go). Each event shows its name, day, time, place, who is involved and any cost or earnings. You and the artists can never be in two places at once: events cannot overlap and need a travel gap between places, and festival bookings are checked against the calendar too (a festival slot is refused if you already have something then, and the other way round). Days now have weekdays: Day 1 is a Monday, so the festival is always on a Sunday. Every artist now has fixed habits generated from their name (nothing is stored): places they will never go (rappers always have at least one), places they only visit on certain weekdays, a rest day, working hours, how much notice they need and how far ahead they will commit. Acts on the festival stages no longer appear on stages or days their rules rule out, and collab songs in your festival setlist are checked too: a featured artist who is on another stage then, away on other business or never plays that stage cannot join, and you are told why. Events are saved in S.cal and in save codes.
v30.6.0Negotiation with personality. Every artist now has their own way of haggling, fixed by their name so it is the same in every save: flexible, stubborn, proud, greedy, generous or shrewd. Counteroffers are no longer tiny steps. How far an artist moves depends on who they are, how big they are (big names move less), how well you know them, how far apart you are and how reasonable your offer is, so a big jump from you gets a big move back and a small one a small move. Prices round to sensible steps ($1, $5, $10, $25 and so on). An offer inside what the artist can live with is accepted with a chance that grows with how attractive it is and with every round, so deals usually happen but are never guaranteed. Lowball offers get shot down, proud artists walk away after two insults, everybody gives a final offer when they are tired of it, and walking away means no new offers from them for 4 days. Prices and phrases are read exactly as before, and cursing at an artist still gets you blocked.
v30.5.2New browser tab icon: the small pixel wave from the PC Start button, in WaveFern green on a dark rounded tile. No gameplay changes.
v30.5.1Removed a stray personal credit from the in-game version history, code comments and notes. No gameplay changes.
v30.5.0Outdoor ambience and cars with music. Outside, the world now has sound: it is busiest in the city centre and plaza (cars passing with a Doppler-style pitch and pan, horns, crowd chatter, footsteps), quieter on your home street (a few cars, birds, distant voices), and in Central Park it is birds, wind, far-off traffic and children near the playground. The festival grounds get a muffled crowd on festival days, and the quiet fields are just wind and birds. Nights are quieter, with crickets. It is all synthesised, follows the Effects slider and M, and fades out indoors, in the pause menu, the laptop and sleep screens. About a million cars live in this city: each car that drives past you is a draw, and with probability monthly listeners / 1,000,000 it is blasting one of your own released songs (muffled, bass-heavy, panned and louder as it comes closer). The soundtrack dips by 30% while one passes. Clips you drop in audio/cars/ can also turn up in passing cars (see the README there). The soundtrack itself is unchanged.
v30.4.2The festival no longer has a code-made drum-and-chord fallback loop. If the beat engine cannot play a set song it stays silent. The main soundtrack stays track 1, 2 and 3 only and the pause menu stays menu.mp3.
v30.4.1The tutorial no longer puts a Big Vee character in the world (just the UI). Big Vee now only appears as his pixel portrait in the dialogue box, the tracker pop-ups and Messages. His cheer after each step is a small pop-up above the dialogue box.
v30.4.0The tutorial is now Big Vee's Bootcamp (it was not in theme and was a wall of text). Big Vee is a washed-up one-hit-wonder turned manager with a pixel portrait, a 3D character who shows up next to you, and a loud green afro. He talks in short typewriter dialogue boxes (click, Enter or Space to speed up; they also advance on their own and never block play), pops up bubbles when you finish things, and DMs you in Messages. The 14 steps are now 3 chapters with title cards: Make your first track, Get heard, Level up. Each step is a mini quest in a compact tracker at the top right with a progress meter, a Hint button and Skip step. Finishing a step plays a chime, confetti and a reward pop-up (+$3 and XP, +$10 per chapter, +$20 at the end; only paid once, replays pay nothing). The camera pans to the thing to do next, with the same bobbing arrow and glow as before. The cars and fame cards are merged into one quick chat, and the days and sleep info moved into the sleep step. The $150 gift, skipping and replay from the pause menu are unchanged.
v30.3.2You can now go to bed before 20:00 when you run out of energy (less than the 15 a recording needs). The bed says "Out of energy, sleep now", and you wake up the next morning with the normal payout and full energy, as usual. The tutorial's sleep step accepts an early sleep too.
v30.3.1Tutorial fixes: the Spotifly step now shows the real pay per stream ($0.03) instead of $0.05, and the clothes step now highlights the Clothes shortcut in the Browser that opens Threadz.
v30.3.0A tutorial for new players. After you create your character on a new game you can Start the tutorial or Skip it. It is a small checklist in the bottom-right corner that moves on when you actually do each thing, with a yellow arrow over what to walk to and a glow on the button to press on the laptop: move and sprint, days, energy and sleep, the laptop and your artist name, recording a song (Beat, Melody, Lyrics, Mix), releasing it on Spotifly (streams, money and monthly listeners), Messages and collabs (haggling and who pays whom), buying a gear upgrade, buying clothes and wearing them from the wardrobe, stepping outside, the map (zoom and taxis), sleeping for your payout, cars and the speed box, fame levels, festivals and FestivalApp, and save codes. Every step has a Skip button, and things you cannot do yet are short info cards. Starting the tutorial gives a one-time $150 tutorial gift, enough for headphones and a cheap piece of clothing. It never pauses the clock, you can minimise or close it, and you can replay it any time from the pause menu (Esc). Existing saves are not affected.
v30.2.0Detailed, animated pets. Pixel Cat, Good Boy Dog, Polly Parrot and Foxy have new models: the cat is a ginger tabby with stripes on its back, legs and tail, a cream chest and socks, pink inner ears, green eyes with slit pupils, whiskers and a red collar with a bell; the dog has a dark saddle, a cream blaze and muzzle, floppy ears, a shiny nose and a blue collar with a tag; the parrot has layered green chest feathers, a white face patch, a hooked beak, a crest, yellow and blue wing feathers and a long blue and red tail; the fox has a white bib and cheeks, a pointed snout, big ears with black tips, black socks and a bushy tail with a white tip. Every pet has eyes with highlights, a nose and paws or toes. They breathe, blink (sometimes twice), twitch their ears, look around when standing still and trot with a proper walk cycle when they follow you. The dog wags its tail and pants with its tongue out after running, the cat swishes its curled tail, the fox sways its brush and the parrot cocks its head. The parrot still flies and flaps. Pets walked by people in the city and the pet pictures in the shop use the same models.
v30.1.0Every song now has its own beat. The game makes the music itself, with no audio files: drums (kicks, snares, claps, snaps, hats, rims, shakers, cowbells, rides, toms and crashes), 808s that slide, bass, pianos, electric pianos, organs, pads, strings, bells, plucks, synth leads, supersaws, and guitars, banjos and distorted power chords. Each genre has its own beat styles. Hip-Hop: Boom Bap, Jazz Rap, G-Funk, Soul Chop, Southern Bounce and Breakbeat. Rap: Trap, UK Drill, NY Drill, Rage, Plugg and Phonk. Pop: Dance Pop, Synth-pop, Pop Ballad, Tropical, Bedroom Pop and Disco Pop. Rock: Garage Rock, Punk, Arena Rock, Hard Rock Riff, Indie Rock and Grunge. R&B: Slow Jam, Neo-Soul, Trap Soul, New Jack Swing, Alt R&B and Afro R&B. Lo-fi: Chillhop, Jazzhop, Rainy Day, Lo-fi Bossa, Sleepy and Tape Beat (with vinyl crackle, rain and tape wobble). Country: Train Beat, Honky Tonk, Country Ballad, Country Pop, Bluegrass and Country Trap. Electronic: House, Techno, Trance, Drum & Bass, Dubstep, Synthwave and Future Bass. Each song picks its style, key, scale, tempo, chord progression, drum pattern, drum sounds and hook melody from its own seed, so a song always sounds the same and two songs in the same genre sound different. Songs have an intro, verses, hooks with the melody, a breakdown and fills. While you record, the song's beat plays under all four steps: the Beat bar now swings in time with it (hit it on the beat), the Melody pads play in the song's key, and the beat gets quieter for Melody and fuller for Mix. The released song keeps the beat you recorded over. On Spotifly, each song on your artist page has a play button. At Park Fields Festival each song in your setlist plays its own beat, which gets fuller as the crowd gets hyped. The beats follow the Music slider (M mutes), replace the background music while they play, pause with the pause menu or when you switch tabs, and stop when you leave the studio, the computer or the stage.
v30.0.0Detailed tower floors. Every floor of Skyline Tower, Pulse Records HQ, Aurora Residences and Nova Mall is rebuilt. Upper floors get floor-to-ceiling windows onto a painted city that sits lower in the view the higher you go, turns sunset-orange in the Sky Lounge and the penthouse, and fills with lit windows at night. Each floor has its own floor (stone, planks, herringbone, carpet, terrazzo, gym rubber, pool mosaic, hex tiles) and walls (brick, foam, panels, plaster, tiles), hanging lights, a low wall along the open sides and glass rooms you can see into. Skyline Tower: a lobby with three lifts, a floor directory, security gates, a reception desk with SKYLINE on the front, two lounges, a chandelier and a glass front onto the street; a cafe with an espresso machine, pastry case, chalk menus, bistro tables, a communal table and a window bar; offices with desk pods and monitors, a glass meeting room, a focus room, printer and water cooler; an apartment corridor with numbered doors, a residents' lounge and a dining corner; a recording floor with a live room (drums, mics, amp, guitars, keys), a control room with a mixing desk, monitors and racks, a vocal booth and the lounge where artists wait; a gallery with paintings, partition walls, sculptures, picture lights and a rope; a Sky Lounge with a lit bar, stools, sofas round a fire table and a grand piano; and a rooftop garden with a deck under a pergola with string lights, a fire pit, sun loungers, planters, a fountain, a telescope and a glass balustrade. Pulse Records HQ: a lobby with walls of framed gold and platinum records, trophy cabinets, a PULSE RECORDS neon sign and a black and gold desk; an A&R floor with two glass offices, open desks, the scout's desk with a turntable, a SIGNINGS board and a listening corner; the mixing suites with a control room and a live room; a photo studio with a white cyclorama, softboxes, a camera on a tripod, a make-up station and clothing rails; and floor 5 is now the Boardroom & Lounge with a long table, a video screen, award shelves and a lounge with a record player. Aurora Residences: a lobby with a wall of brass mailboxes, parcel lockers, a key cabinet behind the concierge desk and a fountain pool; a gym with treadmills and bikes facing the window, a mirror wall with dumbbells, a power rack, lockers and a shake bar; a lap pool with lane ropes, steps, a ladder, loungers, umbrellas and a hot tub; and a furnished penthouse with a living room, a kitchen with an island, a dining table, a bedroom and a bath. Nova Mall: a food court with four stalls (striped awnings, lit signs, menus, kitchens) and escalators; a fashion floor with THREADZ and LUXE boutiques behind glass shopfronts, mannequins and rails; and a tech floor with a video wall, the NOVA TECH store, laptop tables, a gaming corner, a VR spot and the help desk. Staff, lifts, the way out and the meeting spots are where they were, and every floor is merged into a few meshes, so the towers draw faster than before. Also fixed: bright walls showed a blue or red line under the cornice and coloured specks in plaster.
v29.9.0Festival bookings. To play Park Fields Festival you now book a time slot on FestivalApp, a free app on your computer (it installs itself and is listed free in App Barn). It shows the next three festivals and every stage's four slots: 10:00-14:00, 14:00-18:00, 18:00-22:00 and 22:00-02:00. Other artists have already taken some slots. You can book a free slot on a stage your Fame Level allows, only while the festival is at least 2 days away, with one slot per stage. Booking is free. You build a setlist from your released songs and whole albums. Each song lasts 30-55 in-game minutes, and the setlist can be at most 4 hours (the app shows a running total and blocks anything that would go over). You can edit the setlist, or cancel; cancelling under 2 days before costs 2 reputation. On the day, go to the steps of your stage during your slot. The set plays your setlist song by song, with a "now playing" display, and the game clock keeps running (a full slot is about 2 real minutes). Collab songs bring the featured artist on stage for that song only. You are paid $0.08 x the stage multiplier for each person in the crowd after every song, and the set ends when your last song ends or the slot runs out. Miss your slot and it is given away, and you lose 3 reputation. The other stages now have their own acts (a singer, guitarist and drummer, or a DJ), with name boards, light beams and their own crowds. Crowds dance in four styles, jump and wave their arms more as the hype builds, and shout things like "LET'S GOOO", "ONE MORE SONG" and your name. Coloured smoke flares go off in the crowd now and then. Stage roofs, screens, delay towers and mix tents fade out when they hide you, like the city towers.
v29.8.1Park Fields Festival now opens every 7 days instead of every 14: it is on Day 7, 14, 21 and so on. The build crew comes the day before (Day 6, 13, 20...) and the take-down crew the day after (Day 8, 15, 22...). The gate sign, morning card, toasts, map and line-up board all follow the new schedule. You can still play each stage once per festival.
v29.8.0Park Fields Festival, inspired by Reading Festival. Every 14 days (Day 14, 28, 42 and so on) a big festival opens on the field east of Park Avenue, about the size of Central Park. The day before, a crew builds it: fences going up, half-built stage frames, a crane, lorries, cones, pallets and workers in hi-vis. The day after, a crew takes it down again, and the grass is churned to mud. There are four stages. Stage 4, the Fresh Fern Tent, needs Fame Level 10 and pays x1.25. Stage 3, The Pit, needs Level 50 and pays x1.5. Stage 2, the Riverside Stage, needs Level 80 and pays x1.75. Stage 1, the Main Stage, needs Level 120 and pays x2. Stage 4 draws the smallest crowd and Stage 1 the biggest. Walk to the steps at the side of a stage and pick one of your songs to play a set of about a minute. The camera stands behind you on the stage and looks out over the crowd, with flags, a banner with your name, light towers, light beams and bubbles in the air. A mic stand is in front of you, and if the song is a collab, the featured artist is on stage with you. Short crowd minigames pop up at random moments: Hype the crowd, Hit the drop, Call and response, Finish the line and Hold the note. Do well and more fans pack in at the back. Do badly and they walk off. You are paid $0.40 for each person in the crowd at the end, times the stage's multiplier, which is a big boost early on. The crowd also streams the song afterwards, which adds monthly listeners the next day, and some of them follow you. You can play each stage once per festival, and a set takes 15 energy. In the food court there is a burger van, a crepe van, a taco van, a candyfloss cart, a popcorn cart and an open-air bar. Everything costs about 1.4x the usual price. Food gives energy, and drinks also refill your stamina. The line-up board by the gate shows what you can play, and the morning card, the world map, the minimap and a new Taxi to Festival button all show the festival.
v29.7.0Hats now hide your hair. Hair no longer pokes through caps, beanies, bucket hats, berets, fedoras, cowboy hats, top hats, durags, crowns, trapper hats and every other hat: anything on top of your head is tucked under the hat, and hair that crosses the brim is cut off at it. Hair below the brim still shows where it naturally would, like long hair and braids down the back, ponytails, pigtails, side locks, a fringe under a cap or an afro puffing out underneath. Headbands, visors and sweatbands leave the hair on top alone. This works on your character, the people in town and the pixel pictures of you (posts and covers).
v29.6.0Control your car's speed. Each car now has its own top speed by price: Phantom GT 120 mph, Apex Sports 80 mph, Trail Pickup 65 mph, Commuter Sedan 35 mph and Pocket Hatch 20 mph (the car shop shows it). While you drive, a speedometer in the bottom-right corner shows your speed and lets you type the speed you want, from 1 mph up to your car's top speed (press Enter or click away to set it, or use the - and + buttons; Shift-click for 1 mph steps). Hold W and the car speeds up smoothly to that speed and slows down smoothly if you lower it; let go to coast, S brakes and then reverses. Each car remembers its own setting. Typing in the box never moves the car. Speeds are scaled to the town: up to 35 mph they are true to life, faster speeds are squeezed a little so 120 mph stays drivable, and the camera zooms out a bit as you go faster.
v29.5.0Threadz shoe wall: Timberland boots and 18 more shoes. Timbs come in classic wheat, black and olive, plus a Timbs Chukka, with a padded leather collar, lug sole, laces through brass eyelets and the tree logo on the side; trousers tuck into them. Also new: Uptown Lows, Canvas Hi-tops, Flight Highs, Cloud Runners, Logo Slides, Foam Clogs (with charms), Combat Boots, Puffy Skate Shoes, Oxford Dress Shoes, Chunky Dad Sneakers, Platform Stage Boots, Knit Sock Sneakers, Retro Runners, Velvet Slippers, Flip-flops, Glow Kicks, Rain Boots and Tassel Loafers. Each has its own shape and printed side logos, and comes in every colour. Prices run from $12 to $520, and premium pairs unlock at Fame Level 10, 21 or 35. Shop previews can now show prints on the top of a piece.
v29.4.0A much bigger and more detailed Central Park. Gravel paths with stone edging now lead from gates in a hedge round the park: the main avenue from the south gate to the north gate is lined with cherry blossom and lime trees and has long flower beds, and there is a west walk, a south walk from the playground to Park Avenue and a path all the way round the pond. In the middle is a round paved square with four raised flower beds, benches and a running fountain. The duck pond has a stone edge, a sandy shore, reeds, rocks, lily pads, a water jet, an island with a willow and a duck house, a wooden pier with a rowing boat, and ducks with ducklings swimming round the island. There is a bandstand with rows of benches, a gazebo by the pond, a formal flower garden with box hedges and an urn, a fenced playground (swings, slide, climbing frame, see-saw, roundabout, spring riders and a sandpit) and a picnic lawn with tables and barbecues. Trees come in many kinds (oaks, limes, autumn maples, cherry blossom, birches, pines, poplars and willows), with bushes and flowering shrubs, benches, bins and park lanterns that light up at night, and a few people walk the paths with their dogs. You can no longer walk through the hedge, the pond, the fountain, the bandstand, the flower beds, the playground equipment or the picnic tables. The world map and the minimap show the new park. Also fixed: pointed roofs and pine tops were drawn in the wrong colour.
v29.3.0Clear name tags. The names above shopkeepers, tower staff and the artists you meet were drawn at a third of the screen resolution, so they looked faded and broken up. They are now sharp text on a dark pill with an outline, drawn at full resolution, always the same size whatever the zoom, always facing you, and they follow the person every frame. Artists waiting for a meeting get a gold tag. Building and street signs that float in the world (like SKYLINE TOWER or CITY CENTRE) are also sharper and easier to read.
v29.2.0Threadz mega drop: 71 more clothes. Tops (22): Logo Hoodie, Box Logo Tee, Band Tour Tee, Football Shirt, Basketball Jersey, Tie-Dye Tee, Rugby Shirt, Hawaiian Shirt, Ribbed Tank, Oversized Tee, Cropped Hoodie, Sequin Top, Mesh Stage Top, Monogram Tee, Ringer Tee, Cable Cardigan, Quarter-zip Fleece, Sports Crop Top, Compression Top, Silk Shirt, Corset Top and Pixel Gamer Tee. Jackets (15): Track Jacket, Coach Jacket, Racing Jacket, Cloud Puffer, Patch Denim Jacket, Faux Fur Coat, Sequin Blazer, Studded Leather Jacket, Anorak, Tour Jacket, Harrington Jacket, Shearling Aviator, Tech Shell, Kimono Jacket and Chore Coat. Bottoms (12): Basketball Shorts, Parachute Pants, Plaid Trousers, Leather Pants, Flared Jeans, Sweat Shorts, Cargo Joggers, Denim Mini Skirt, Bike Shorts, Sequin Trousers, Carpenter Jeans and Pinstripe Trousers. Hats (9): Fitted Logo Cap, Durag, Monogram Bucket Hat, Top Hat, Fisherman Beanie, Camp Cap, Stage Crown, Sweatband and Trapper Hat. Extras (13): Cuban Link Chain, Iced Pendant, Mini Shoulder Bag, Belt Bag, Aviator Shades, Star Shades, Diamond Studs, Wristbands, Leather Gloves, Feather Boa, All-Access Pass, Bow Tie and Silver Bracelets. Each one has its own look on your character and in the shop and wardrobe, and comes in every colour. Logo pieces carry painted prints: THREADZ, LOWKEY, NOVA, SUMMIT, the NEON GHOSTS tour (with tour dates on the back), SKYLARK AIR, racing patches, iron-on patches and more, and the Football Shirt, Basketball Jersey and All-Access Pass show your artist name. Patterned pieces (tie-dye, Hawaiian flowers, sequins, monogram, tartan, pinstripe, fur, waves) are patterned all over. Prices run from $12 to $900, and premium pieces unlock at Fame Level 10, 21, 35 or 48. The Threadz shop has new filters (All, New, Streetwear, Sportswear, Designer, Vintage, Stage), shows each piece's style, and offers the piece's own colour as a swatch. Older clothes and saves are unchanged.
v29.1.0Much nicer building interiors. The jewellery shop, property office, corner shop, City Cafe, Music Store, Radio Station and garage are rebuilt with proper floors (marble, carpet, tiles, wooden planks, concrete with parking bays), wallpaper, brick, panelled, acoustic-foam and block walls, skirting, dado rails and cornices, a sign on the wall, and their own furniture and props: glass jewellery counters, mirrors and a chandelier; a listings wall, filing cabinets, a waiting area and a house model; open shelves full of products, drinks fridges and a freezer; an espresso machine, pastry case, chalk menus, pendant lamps, tables and a window bench; a guitar wall, amp, drum kit, keyboard and vinyl crates; a broadcast desk with mic arms, an ON AIR light and a guest sofa; a pegboard, workbench, roller door, tool chest and tyres. Lamps now light each room (also at night), and the rooms no longer float on a lawn. In the towers, every floor gets a floor-number plaque by the elevator and cornices, studio and meeting-room glass walls are see-through, Skyline Tower's lobby gets planters and its floor 5 a lounge where artists wait, and Pulse Records' mixing floor a rug.
v29.0.0Animated fountains. The City Plaza fountain now really runs: a jet of water shoots up from the top, water spills over the edge of both bowls in a falling curtain, a ring of small jets arcs into the basin, and the drops splash back up where they land. The water in the basin and in both bowls ripples out in rings and catches the light, with a ring of foam where the curtain falls. The fountains only animate while you are near them, so the game stays as fast as before.
v28.9.0Days are a little longer: a full day now lasts 12 minutes instead of 10 (6 minutes of daytime and 6 of night), so about 9 songs fit in one day. Energy still refills by the same amount per day and streams still build up over the whole day, so daily earnings are unchanged.
v28.8.0More places to meet artists. Besides Skyline Tower, outside your house and by the shops, artists can now meet you at Pulse Records HQ (floor 3, Mixing Suites), the City Cafe, the Music Store, the Radio Station or in Central Park, and they really wait there. Each artist suggests a place, and you can change it in Messages with the new Meet at menu, or just ask in the chat ("can we meet at the cafe instead?"). The City Cafe and the Music Store now have their own doors on city towers, with signs, and show up on the map. When you walk into a building where an artist is waiting, you are told where to find them.
v28.7.2Fixed city glitches. Junctions no longer have a flickering dotted line across them (the pavement ran on under the junction and showed its edge). City shops whose front had been cut back no longer leave their door standing out on the pavement. Two parked cars that were stretched across a pedestrian crossing are gone, and so are the street lamps and trees that stood on the road. Tree pits in the city no longer flicker with the paving lines, and kerbs, awnings and window sills no longer flicker at their edges. The City Plaza fountain is now a round stone fountain with two bowls in the middle of the square (it was a stretched water square touching the kerb), and you can no longer walk through it. Trees vary a little in height, so trees next to each other no longer flicker where they overlap. The grass now carries on under the farm, the school and the sports field instead of ending in thin air.
v28.7.1Fixed: when you met an artist in Skyline Tower, nobody was there. Artists now really wait on floor 5 (Recording Floor) by the sofas, with a gold ring on the floor around them, and the lobby tells you which floor they are on. Walk up to them and the meeting chat with its three replies opens by itself (E works too). Artists who meet you outside your house or by the shops are still there as before.
v28.7.0Sharper logos and prints on clothes. Logos and graphics are now painted on the clothes instead of built from coloured blocks, so they look crisp on your character and in the Threadz shop and wardrobe pictures. The Graphic Tee has a sunset-and-palms print with SUNSET CLUB lettering and a small print under the back collar. The Sports Jersey says FERNS 23 on the front and has your artist name and a big 23 on the back, with a star on the sleeve. The Varsity Jacket has a chenille W on the chest, WAVEFERN Records lettering across the back and a 26 on the sleeve. The Classic Tee has a small fern leaf on the chest, the Polo Shirt an embroidered sailboat, the Cap a stitched WF, the Snapback FRESH lettering and a gold sticker on the brim, the Beanie and Pom Beanie a woven THREADZ label, and the Trucker Cap a BIG RIG CO. mountain patch. Prints change colour to stand out on whatever colour you pick.
v28.6.2Fixed: the door of Skyline Tower stood out on the pavement, away from the building, and you had to step into the road to go in. The door, its sign and the way in now sit on the tower's front, under the shop canopy (marked ENTRANCE), and leaving puts you back on the pavement in front of it.
v28.6.1Fixed: entering the garage, the radio station or Skyline Tower (and the city cafe and music store) put you in the wrong room, and leaving dropped you at a city tower. The three city towers you can enter were taking the shop slots those buildings use, so the game mixed them up. Every building now opens its own room and you leave by its own door. Also fixed some city glitches: 3rd Avenue is no longer paved over by the City Plaza, so cars no longer drive across the square, and the fountain is no longer stretched onto the pavement. When a tower turns see-through so you can see yourself behind it, its ledges, roof, shop front and door now turn see-through as well instead of hanging in the air. Tall towers near the camera are no longer sliced off diagonally.
v28.6.0Much more detailed studio gear. Guitars and basses now have round bodies, necks with frets and inlays, headstocks with tuners, strings, soundholes or f-holes, pickups, knobs and stands. Keyboards and synths have real black and white keys, knobs, screens and wooden end cheeks, and the Modular wall is full of modules and patch cables. Mics have grilles, shock mounts and pop filters (the Tube mic gets its own power supply). Speakers and monitors have cones, tweeters and ports. The drum kits are proper kits (practice pad, e-drum rack with pads, or a full acoustic kit with toms, snare, hi-hat and cymbals). DJ decks have platters, tonearms, mixers, faders and lights. Foam panels have a wedge surface, posters have artwork, and the Street team gets a neon sign. The new gear (interface, headphones, monitors, sampler, pedals, vocal rack, console, ring light and cameras, bass traps and diffusers) sits on a producer desk under the window and around the room. Chairs have wheels, armrests and a gold throne. The shop previews show the same detailed models. The studio is merged into a few meshes so it stays fast. Basic furniture (sofa, tables, shelf, plant, TV, fridge, rug, lamp) also gets a little more detail.
v28.5.0Detailed cars. Traffic, your own cars, the garage and the car shop pictures now use proper car models: shaped bodies with wheel arches, windscreens and side windows, wheels with tyres, rims and hubs, headlights, indicators and taillights that stay bright at night, bumpers, grilles, number plates, mirrors, door lines and handles, and glossy paint. Each car keeps its own look (the pickup has a load bed, the Apex Sports a rear wing, the Phantom GT gold stripes), and traffic now also has vans, SUVs and taxis. Cars parked by houses sit on their own driveway instead of the pavement. Cars are the same size as before and each one is a single shared model, so the game runs as fast or faster.
v28.4.0Gearhouse has 11 new gear lines with 3 upgrades each (33 in total): Headphones, Audio interface, Studio monitors, Pedalboard, Bass guitar, Sampler, Vocal chain, Synths, Room treatment, Mixing desk and Content kit. Each level adds song quality to every song you record (+1 to +3 per level), and the Content kit adds 5% streams per level. Prices run from $120 to $8,000, and the bigger upgrades unlock at Fame Level 10, 21, 35 or 48. The shop is now sorted into Instruments, Recording, Room and Getting heard, shows what each line does and how many levels you own, and sums up your total gear bonus. The recording results show the bonus from the new gear. New gear appears in your studio, and you can play the bass, jam on the synth, check the mix at the desk and film clips.
v28.3.0More detailed clothes on your character: side and shoulder seams, hems and cuffs, crew necks and collars, hoodie drawstrings and pocket edges, zips with pulls, polo buttons, cable-knit fronts, a number on the Sports Jersey, jacket zips, welt pockets and cuffs, denim stitching and copper buttons, coat buttons and belts, fur hood trim on the Parka, belts with buckles, belt loops, back and front pockets on trousers, contrast stitching on jeans, shoe soles, laces and side logos, padded hi-top collars, Chelsea boot elastic, work boot toe caps, glossy leather boots, cap buttons and panel seams, beanie ribbing, snapback stickers, cushioned headphones, chain links and scarf fringe. An open jacket now shows the top you are wearing underneath instead of plain white. Fixed: Slides and some new shoes could show the old plain shoe under them.
v28.2.0A more detailed town and city. Roads have kerbs, paving slabs, white edge lines, zebra crossings and stop lines at every junction, and the centre dashes near junctions are no longer stretched. Pavements have street lamps, bins, hydrants, benches, trees, planters, bike racks, parking meters, bus stops and green street-name signs at junctions. Houses get window frames, shutters, door steps, porch lights, gutters and side windows, and their fence, hedge or low wall, gate path, mailbox and flowers now sit on the property line instead of on the pavement. City towers get shop windows, striped awnings, shop signs, floor ledges and rooftop parapets, AC units, stair huts and water tanks. The world map and minimap show parks, the lake, farm fields, pavements, centre lines, house and tower outlines, trees and road names. Collisions and car routes are unchanged.
v28.1.0Threadz new drop: 34 more clothes. Tops: Button-up Shirt, Graphic Tee, Turtleneck, Baseball Tee, Flannel Shirt, Crop Top. Jackets: Varsity, Leather, Windbreaker, Blazer, Sherpa. Bottoms: Ripped Skinny Jeans, Track Pants, Cargo Shorts, Pleated Skirt, Overalls. Shoes: Slides, Platform Sneakers, Loafers, Basketball Hi-tops, Cowboy Boots, Canvas Low-tops. Hats: Trucker Cap, Fedora, Pom Beanie, Visor, Cowboy Hat, Flat Cap. Extras: Backpack, Crossbody Bag, Wristwatch, Hoop Earrings, Round Glasses, Bandana. Each has its own look on your character and comes in every colour. Premium pieces unlock at Fame Level 10, 21 or 35 and the shop shows a lock until then. Fixed: the top faces of shop previews sometimes showed the wrong colour.
v28.0.0The music streaming app on the computer is called Spotifly again (the game is still WaveFern Records). It has a new logo, a green circle with three black lines on a black tile, on its desktop icon, window, taskbar button, sidebar, setup page and the Spotifly Team messages. The green wallpaper now says spotifly with the logo, and news posts come from Spotifly Music News. Saves are unchanged.
v27.9.0Messages has its own look: a coral-to-violet header with its own logo, a dark plum chat list, a warm cream chat with round speech bubbles (white for them, a pink-to-violet gradient for you), rounded-square profile pictures with a colourful ring, a pill-shaped message box and Send button, and a matching window title bar. Everything works the same as before.
v27.8.0Polly Parrot now flies instead of walking. It hovers at about head height, bobs up and down, flaps its wings and follows you through the air, tilting forward as it speeds up. At home it flies around and only folds its wings when it settles on a perch, cat tree, bed or bowl. Parrots out with people in the city fly next to them too.
v27.7.0Days are longer: a full day now lasts 10 minutes instead of 3, so you can record about 7-8 songs in one day (one song, with all four steps and uploading it, takes a bit over a minute). Daytime and night are both 5 minutes. Energy still refills by the same amount per day, and streams still build up over the whole day, so daily earnings are unchanged.
v27.6.0An even slower career, mostly at the start. Each song gets fewer streams (about 40% of before), new releases raise interest more slowly, the monthly-listener stream bonus grows more slowly, old songs fade out more, and viral spikes are rarer (1.2% instead of 2%) and smaller (1.5-3x instead of 2-5x). Streams pay about $0.03 each instead of $0.05. Artists who message you first now pay 25% of their fee (at least $8) instead of 60%, and collab songs get a smaller stream boost. Reaching the same fame levels, monthly listeners and money now takes about 2-3 times as many days. Your first song still gets a few streams and a little money. Saves are unchanged.
v27.5.0Slower career. Each fame tier now multiplies your streams by 1.5x instead of 2.2x, so success no longer snowballs, and every fame level needs 10% more monthly listeners than the one before (was 5%). Around day 30 you are now roughly fame level 30 with about 2,000 monthly listeners and a few hundred dollars, instead of level 100+ with tens of thousands of listeners and thousands of dollars. Old saves keep their listeners and unlocks, but the fame level shown will be lower.
v27.4.1Recording no longer rushes you: Melody, Lyrics and Mix each open with a ready screen that explains the step and waits until you press Space (or tap Start). The melody plays slower, there is a longer pause between patterns, each lyric line now gets 7 seconds instead of 5, and the Mix band moves more slowly.
v27.4.0Recording a song is now four short minigames instead of one timing bar. 1. Beat: the old bar, now 6 hits. 2. Melody: watch four coloured pads light up with notes, then play the pattern back (keys 1-4 or tap); three patterns of 3, 4 and 5 notes. 3. Lyrics: pick the word that rhymes before the timer runs out (keys 1-3 or tap); four lines. 4. Mix: hold Space or hold click to raise the level and let go to drop it, keeping it inside a moving green band for 6 seconds. How well you do in Melody, Lyrics and Mix now makes up most of the song's mix quality instead of a random roll, and the results screen shows your score for each step.
v27.3.0Haggle with artists in Messages using normal words: type a price ("$200", "2k", "1.5k", "two hundred"), "how about 150", "can you do 300", "meet me in the middle", "go lower", "too much" and so on. Artists counter in steps based on their personality and how well you get on. Each has a secret lowest fee (or highest pay) they will not go past. They turn down silly offers, give a final offer if you keep lowballing, and walk away if you push past it. Whoever was paying before still pays. The price you agree on is shown on the accept button and is charged or paid once.
v27.2.0The world map (N) can now zoom from 0.5x to 4x: use the mouse wheel, pinch on a touch screen, the + and - buttons, or the + and - keys. Zooming goes toward your cursor (or the middle for the buttons), and you can drag the map to move around. Markers, names and your position stay in the right place at every zoom. The map remembers your zoom and opens centred on you.
v27.1.1Fixed: the map, the minimap and the "CITY ... m" road signs measured the distance to the city centre from where it was before the roads got wider. They now use the city centre's real position.
v27.1.0Roads are twice as wide (10 m instead of 5 m) and pavements are twice as wide on both sides. The whole town and city have been spread out to make room, so houses, shops, towers, trees, street lights, cars, walkers and the map all line up with the new streets. If you load a save and are stuck inside something, you are moved to the nearest free spot.
v27.0.0Messages: chats with the newest activity are now at the top. A new message or reply moves that chat to the top of the list.
v26.9.0Days now last 3 minutes. Monthly listeners are now this month's streams divided by a random number (2-5) picked each month (a month is 30 days). The game remembers every day's monthly listeners, so the morning screen shows yesterday → today and the change (it no longer shows the same number twice).
v26.8.2Fixed a black screen that could stay forever after going to sleep (from day 2 on). Waking up is now protected so a problem in one new-day step can never leave you stuck. If you were stuck, just reload the page.
v26.8.1If you tell an artist they hit you up first ("you hit me up", "you dmed me first", "you should pay me"), chats from older versions switch to the artist paying you, and any fee you already paid in that chat is refunded. If you really messaged them first, they will say so and the fee stays.
v26.8.0Artists understand your messages much better: hundreds of new slang words, abbreviations, emoji and music-industry phrases for yes and no, plus swearing at an artist (f off, shut up, insults) makes them block you, while "f--- yeah" still means yes. Artists now chat more casually. If an artist messages you first and you agree, they pay you; if you message them, you pay their fee.
v26.7.5The inside of the front (south) wall of the house now uses the same colour as the outside walls.
v26.7.4Recording: each hit now speeds the bar up by 5% instead of 15%. You get 3 goes per recording and a miss uses one up; run out and the take is scrapped.
v26.7.3Loading a save code now fully resets the game first, so nothing from the previous game carries over and missing fields fall back to defaults.
v26.7.2The custom colour button in the colour pickers now shows a plus icon instead of a pencil.
v26.7.1Renamed Fernwave Records, Spotifly and the .fw sites to WaveFern and .wf.
v26.7.0The game now pauses automatically when you switch tabs or the window loses focus.
v26.6.0City: roads are wider (6.4 m) with a wider far-side pavement, and buildings, junctions and the map follow. Traffic now drives on a road network: cars keep to their lane, turn at crossroads and T-junctions, U-turn only at dead ends, and wait instead of piling up. Many more cars and pedestrians across the whole map. You can no longer walk through people or cars, but you can always step away. Sprinting eases in, and cars are now much faster than running.
v26.5.0House: the gap in the right-hand (east) wall is patched. The front of the house has a proper front door with frame, panels and handle, inside and out. The garage does not exist at all (no building, pad, sign, collision, prompt or map marker) until you buy it.
v26.4.0A red dot sits on the Messages icon while you have unread messages and disappears when they are all read. Upload all uploads every titled draft at once. Your artist page shows your top 5 songs by streams, with a Show all button.
v26.3.0Fame stars are replaced by fame levels based on monthly listeners. Level 1 is 1 to 10 listeners and each level after is about 5% harder. Every fame reward and unlock (song reach, fan tips, bodyguards, followers) now uses levels, with the same rewards as before.
v26.2.0Streams now build up through the day, faster at night, instead of all at once overnight. The day's earnings are paid once when you wake up. The clock keeps running while you use the computer, and the taskbar clock keeps up.
v26.1.0Collab recording costs half the energy of a solo song. The diss track option is now an Off/On dropdown, Off at the start of every session. The recording marker speeds up 15% after each hit (misses do not speed it up). Energy slowly refills during the day. Footsteps use one sound system, so walking diagonally no longer stacks or pops.
v26.0.0Artist collabs redone: you pay the artist's fee (shown on a confirm button) to book a session. Meeting in person is a short chat with three reply choices that change the artist's opinion, and that opinion sets the song's quality and streams. Red or blue dots on artist pictures show who really wants a collab. A few artists message you on your first day. Collab songs get one (feat. NAME) tag. Artists understand more slang.
v25.1.0Settings button removed from the bottom-right corner. The map sits a little lower. New games start with the Charcoal wallpaper.
v24.4.2Upstairs stairs now drop down into a cut-out in the floor. The new floor is split into four empty rooms.
v24.4.1Fixed: the ground floor had a visible opening along the front edge. It is now a continuous low wall while you are inside the house.
v24.4.0House tiers: the suburban house is the original four rooms, the Hillside Villa adds two plain rooms on the back, the Penthouse Loft adds a whole new floor (empty, for your own furniture). Upstairs stairs now go down. Removed the Instagrime stories row. The garage hides while you are inside the house. The map thumbnail is smaller and blurs behind the pause menu.
v24.3.0Added a third background track to the music rotation.
v24.2.0Added a Wipe save button in Settings to start a new game (asks for confirmation).
v24.1.2Fixed: progress reset on refresh. The game now autosaves in the browser and restores on reload. Fixed a duplicate variable name (CP) that stopped the clothes and catalogue script from running.
v24.1.1Fixed: computer could not be opened (syntax error). Fixed Buzz hair showing a front fringe, and Buzz/Short hair showing stray strands by the face.
v24.1.0Version code and a full version history page. Settings links to it.
